Playing with Makeup: Trends, Tips, and Creative Looks

Last weekend I decided to play with makeup and the results were amazing. A full-face look takes time and several products, but when done well it can be really flattering. Below I’ll walk you through what I used on my face and hair, and share photos from the session.

First, here are some pictures from the day:
I began with my eyebrows. I defined their shape with an eyeliner, filled them in, then softened the color with a clean, dry mascara brush to keep them natural-looking. To make the brows stand out, I used Mary Kay concealer in Bronze 1 to highlight the brow bone and sharpen the edges.
For the eyes I blended two Mary Kay cream shades — Apricot Glaze and Pale Pink — and added a subtle hint of green from a L’Oréal palette for a touch of contrast. I finished the eyes with a volumizing Mary Kay mascara to enhance the lashes.
Here’s a close-up of one eye:
For my face I used several products to build dimension and coverage:
– Mary Kay concealer in Bronze 2 to even out areas I wanted to cover
– Mary Kay TimeWise Matte Foundation in Beige as a base layer
– Mary Kay TimeWise Matte Foundation in Bronze layered over the base for depth
– CoverGirl pressed powder in Natural Beige to set everything and create a smooth finish
– Bronzer, highlighter, and blush to complete the complexion
I lined my lips with a dark purple liner and topped them with Mary Kay True Dimension lipstick for a rich, defined finish.
Yes, that’s quite a few products for one look — heavy makeup isn’t for everyone, but it’s fun to experiment occasionally.
For my hair I tried a twist-out. It didn’t turn out exactly as I imagined, but I liked the texture and volume. I’m getting more comfortable caring for my natural hair and more confident wearing it proudly.
Now for a not-so-glamorous moment:
Hahaha — modelling gone wrong! I look like I’m about to cry at a funeral and smudge my makeup. Lol
Here are some sweeter shots from the day:
On a different note, at church we were reminded that fellowship with God is central. To deepen that relationship we should engage with Scripture daily. The world offers many distractions, so it’s important to prioritise time with God — ultimately, that’s what matters most.
Many thanks to Mr. N for taking these lovely photos. I’ll leave you with this final shot:
Chai — is that really me?!
That’s the update — wishing you an amazing week!
