What is life without food? Natural brown rice, chicken sauce and stewed greens.
Hello everyone — I’m excited to share this week’s update. Last week I mentioned I’d start posting weekly recaps every Monday; this is edition two. I already wrote about my experience at the “fire church” in a previous post, so today I’ll cover the rest of my week: a trip to an apple orchard with the girls, a neighbourhood community baby shower, and the arrival of my Mary Kay starter kit. Read on for the details and photos.

An attempt at a mirror selfie. The baby was fussy, so I didn’t try for a clearer shot.

N putting an apple into a bag. I also noticed someone wearing training pants — I should tell her potty training story another time.

I also attended a community baby shower in the neighbourhood. It was for expectant mothers and moms with children under one year old. I regretted missing last year’s event while I was pregnant, so I was glad to be there this time. The organisers handed out helpful freebies and information, and there were many friendly faces. I only managed to take one photo at the event, shown below.

One highlight of the week was baking with the girls. We made a delicious coconut cake together. They were eager to help break eggs, stir the batter and listen as I explained each step. At first I hesitated — teaching takes more time — but I’m so glad I let them join in. They loved baking with Mummy, and it was a great chance to involve them early in the kitchen. For this cake I added dry coconut milk and coconut essence to my basic recipe, and sprinkled desiccated coconut on top before baking. It turned out wonderfully and I can’t wait to make it again.
Coconut cake — so yummy.
My Mary Kay starter kit arrived this week too. It came with many products, samples and brochures. I snapped a photo of some of the items. I purchased the kit for $85 and I’m excited to host my first beauty makeover party this Saturday. I’ll share pictures and highlights from that event in next Monday’s update.

I also received a handy Mary Kay tote bag.

Church this week was very uplifting. The message reminded us that we were created by God for God — life is not about us alone but about honoring Him.
