Cool soul food spot with a bar & patio. Soul food & inventive cocktails spotlighted in a chill stylish setting with earth tones & a patio.
Great experience! Finally had the opportunity to dive at Alta, located in the West Adam's neighborhood of Los Angeles. Alta is a cool, welcoming and laid-back vibe that all will enjoy. I actually dined at Alta twice in one weekend, once of dinner and the other for Sunday lunch-brunch with friends on both occasions. The waitstaff is very friendly, accommodating and the service was great. In regards to the food experience it was very good. I enjoyed the fried Fish entree which can with two sides. I ordered Collard Greens and Mac and Cheese. The greens were well seasoned with a little kick to them. In addition, friends ordered the Beef Brisket and Fried Chicken entrees, which they both indicated they enjoyed. Also, remember to order the Devilled Eggs as an appetizer - Delicious! Overall, the dinning experience was a very good one. I would suggest valet parking, especially on the weekends and make a reservation especially if you have a dining party larger than 3. Cool vibes and atmosphere at Alta!
This food is pretty tasty, and the atmosphere is amazing, but the hostess could be more present at the front door. The indoor seating was literally empty, and the hostess was nowhere to be found. It took ten minutes for us to be seated. Once we were seated, our waiter was great! He was very attentive. I highly recommend the lavender sparkling lemonade. Thank me later! ?
This restaurant is a must try. We made a reservation for lunch. Upon arrival it took a few minutes for a host to seat us but once we were seated the service was quick and consistent. We ordered a cocktail and the black eye pea fritters. I can't remember the name of the cocktail but it was a bourbon drink similar to an old fashioned. The drink was perfect. The fritters while tasty, the texture of the center wasn't my favorite. For our entree, we ordered and shared a 6 pc fried chicken (wings, thighs, and drumsticks are what arrived), brisket combo with greens and mac and cheese, and fries. The crust and seasoning on the fried chicken was delicious. The greens were cooked perfectly and tasted great (and I am VERY picky about greens). I wasn't a huge fan of the mac and cheese but I wouldn't say it was a bad. To finish our meal, we ordered the 7up cake. If it's on the menu when you go YOU MUST order it. It's not overly sweet and perfectly moist. We have already made plans for brunch at Alta that should tell you how good it is. So good that we need a repeat visit just a few days after the first visit.
The ambiance and decor is so beautiful, I wanted to like this place so bad but I can’t lie. The drinks were weak, taste like juice so didn’t feel justified for the price. The chicken wasn’t cooked properly so it was still pink in some parks. The greens were to acidic, but the cornbread was so good. The Mac and cheese was ok, I’m going to go back to give them another chance because I’m hoping maybe they were having a bad day. I’ve heard great reviews so I’m glad to go back and try something else on the menu
Great place for sandwiches and classic southern style foods! The back patio is a great place to dine in with vines acting as the natural shading too. You'll have to find street parking, but it's not too difficult to find. The Shrimp and Grits are soo good here. Very well made and velvety with a good amount of shrimp. Super tasty and was really happy with this dish. The Deviled Eggs are super yummy too with a good kick! Collard Greens are classic. Brisket Burger was scrumptious too! Also request their hot sauce! Really delicious and balanced that elevates all the dishes as well. Overall, a really enjoyable restaurant!
We had a great evening here. We were walk-in customers so we weren’t expecting to get a table as soon as we saw how busy it was, but the host was able to seat us at a table on the heated patio. The atmosphere was great - great playlist. Great vibes, tasty food and drink. Would definitely come back if we get lucky again!
The atmosphere is eclectic and the food is bomb.com The fried chicken was seasoned nicely and quite crispy. The Mac and cheese was very good (quite cheesey). The candied yams was a bit undercooked and too sweet but the star of the show were the DEVILED EGGS!!!! The filling was a zesty flavorful kind of spicy delight! My friends said the brisket, red beans and rice were delicious. I'm going back for the black eyed peas fritter. I would highly recommend going during early during the weekday to avoid needing reservations. They stay booked. There is only street parking which is why I highly recommend going early on a weekday or early weekend if you can't do weekdays. The service is great!
All the experienced was good. I think the food was good if you really like spicy. To me I can't eat spicy, so is too spicy for me. I love their chicken, the chicken was good. The server was friendly, he kept coming back checking on us most of the time. It was a decent place to dine in.
