Swanky steakhouse & cocktail bar. High-end steakhouse & lounge from chef Stephen Starr in a contemporary library setting.
Definitely definitely recommend this place! You will have the best cocktails here, even the common type cocktails are more tasty than regular restaurants. Steaks make me back to here within a week. You have to try the steak. Service is also lovely, enjoy your evening here. Truffle stuff not recommend here. But this restaurant is in my dining list for Philadelphia.
The restaurant is decent. I was expecting more. The $140 cheesesteak is good and they use great meat. It's filling. Took me two days to eat. Their dinner rolls are outstanding. The Mac and cheese is good. The bathrooms could use remodeling. I've seen gas station restrooms that look better.
Staff is outstanding. Eddie is my favorite. Melissa rocks too. The food is ridiculously good. The oysters were fresh, the crab legs were perfect. The cheesesteak was an experience, it comes with champagne!! Really though, I cannot think of a time I had more delicious lobster. The steak is unreal too
Matthew was an awesome server. Made us feel welcomed and took the time to answer all our questions. Service by the entire staff was great. The flakey pop over bread roll was divine. My only suggestion is to get the food to the table more quickly so it is hot.
The food was phenomenal! Our server was awful! She didn’t even give us her name when she greeted us so poorly. She was very unknowledgeable about the food and drinks which is very disappointing in an upscale restaurant such as this. One of the managers must have sensed something was wrong by the looks on our faces and maybe our demeanor. So she came over and asked how everything was. My niece (who’s birthday we were celebrating), replied “Everything is great!” I interrupted “it was not, the server was horrible!” If my niece wasn’t so upset about it I probably would have went along with her lie. The service was unacceptable and something one should never experience in such restaurant. The managers response made things even worse. She responded “well if you need anything let me know.” (I BET you they probably thought we were broke and wouldn’t tip good, which is totally not in our character.) Then to top it off AFTER she asked us that, AFTER we finished eating that same manager had the nerve to come ask us what happen to the two friends that was supposed to join us? AS IF!! Well we can’t control the fact that they didn’t show up. We were not happy about that either! It’s embarrassing and we understand that other customers could have used those 2 seats. They were supposed to meet us coming from Maryland and were running way behind schedule and we refuse to wait. One of the parties that didn’t attend still had us order take out for them. Anyway, we still tipped more than 20% although the server/waiter was terrible! That’s not going to deter us from returning. We actually got business cards from two other servers that were serving other tables and gave exceptional service (we over heard conversations from our table). We will be requesting them upon return. Other than that Unfortunate experience highly recommend this place for multiple reasons.
If I can rate this restaurant 6 stars, I would! Fantastic food with fresh ingredients prepared just right. Definitely order their South African lobster and Olive steak. Their chefs choice of chocolate truffles are also amazing. Very very proper quality for a great fine dining experience.
Server was really knowledgeable and friendly made us feel welcomed. We decided to try their steaks this time and the wagyu was worth it all. Amazing taste and just melts. We also tried their shoestring onions which were like battered Deep fried onions and went well with our steak. My partner had rib eye she enjoyed it but said she would get the wagyu next time. We definitely recommend Barclay they did not let down.
This is the second time visiting Barclay Prime. The overall experience was very good. Great service (thanks Matthew) and very good ambiance with extremely comfortable seating. Tried true Japanese wagyu beef for the first time. It was very good but didn’t seem worth the $200 for 5 ounces. The rest of the food (tuna tartare, Kennett Square mushrooms, potato au gratin, truffle mac n cheese, hot chocolate chip cookie with pistachio ice cream) was very well made and tasty. Overall, I would say very good, but not great.
