Classic Italian fare in a casual setting. Family-owned restaurant serving generous portions of Southern Italian favorites in a casual setting.
As a local small business owner, and a patron of Bella Notte for 15 years I had an experience that I felt needed a review to commend a family owned business. Decided to host my office holiday lunch there and due to some miscommunication with the reservation when we showed up we realized they were not open for dine in lunch (carry out only). The owner/manager went above and beyond. Rather than turning us away he warmly seated us and provided AMAZING service. The grilled octopus appetizer and calamari were amazing as always, and the pastas are top notch. It is so very hard to run and staff a business in the post Covid world, I would like to commend Bella Notte for constantly turning out great food and providing great service. Will definitely be back again and again. It is up to Chicagoans to support establishments like this that take pride in their food and service. Thanks Bella Notte!!!
The decor is nice and has low lighting for a relaxed scene. The staff was extremely nice and made sure we were always taken care of. The food was really good. I ordered basic spaghetti in meat sauce in the full size. The full size is meant for about 2-3 people. I had tons of leftovers. I also tried the carrot cake and it was really good! The frosting tasted like Cinnabon frosting. I would definitely come back here!
Really fantastic food. Best calamari I've had in a long time. Pasta was super fresh and just melted in your mouth. I had ravioli, sausage and peppers... All great. Everyone just raved about their food. If you have not been..... Put it on your list
We didn't make any reservations but we stopped by since we've been here before. The place has plenty of paintings from Italy and reminded me of the last trip I made there. The man at the entrance walked us over to our table and our server came right away to give us the specials of the day. We got some drinks and they were great, not too much or too little alcohol. And as for the food, it was good and plenty for more than one person per plate. Later on when it started to get dark outside, the candles on the rabble were lit. Our server was bilingual since he spoke English and Spanish. The place can host small to large groups, I saw a table being set up for a party of 13. Try the drinks and share the plates. The host did not have a face covering this Saturday when I picked up my food, so I'll just keep ordering for pickup.
Food was kind of ok until we saw some uninvited guests and we couldn't eat anymore. Service was horrible, I have to stand and go look for the waiter at times.
Delicious. Efficient. Ummm... DELICIOUS. And the host was hilarious. The server was quick. Walk in (no reservations) and we still had the best table in the house, front window. Large portions... just as good the next day. My new Italian go-to. Thank you!!!
Food and drinks are excellent as is price point but it is very gloomy and would be helped by candles on each table. Also no "real" menus which I loathe, hate reading off my phone.
It started off great with appetizers. We ordered their grilled octopus and baked clams. Delicious ? For our entree we ordered the special of the day the Grouper cooked Vesuvio style. The fish was very dry and bland, it needed seasoning. The wedge potatoes were dry and hard, not freshly cooked. I don't mind spending good money on a worthy dish but this was ridiculous! The price of $38.50 left a really bad taste in my mouth. The dirty dry martini was fair, served in a small glass. We addressed the quality of food with "the manager". He totally was unapologetic and continued to defend the food without acknowledging our dissatisfaction. We were not looking for a discount or free dessert! We wanted to let him know the food was not up to par. Unfortunately, we blew $160. We will never go back there again. WE DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS ESTABLISHMENT
