Riverside spot for classic Mexican fare. Festive eatery with colorful decor & a patio offering traditional Mexican cooking & margaritas.
Went here for Valentines Day 2022. Many others places were booked up, and we weren’t sure we’d get to town in time in our travels to make an appointment in advance. So we just came down and looked for a spot with openings. When I asked if they had tables, the gal boasted that they own a couple facilities next to each other and have the largest capacity for diners done there, and they would be able to get us right in. Well, getting us right in, still took a half hour, and still left us with a dirty table that had yet to be wiped off yet. Waiter was very nice and helpful, and as soon as he realized we had a dirty table, he had us taken care of. He was a good server, helping with suggestions and kept on top of things. Food was ok. Nothing spectacular. Most of it was warm, and the cooler breeze outside could have contributed to the parts that were not. Not terribly flavorful. I cannot say for sure what happened, but after eating here, I was ok, but my girlfriend got sick and we had to head back to the hotel. The entire next day, I was on my own, because she was violently sick the entire day as well. (I went on my own because she wanted peace, lights out, etc., and preferred she was alone to rest) So while I can’t say it was this place, it’s highly suspected. I’m still giving 3 stars, because I don’t know for sure, and also the 30min wait and dirty table could have also come from being busy that night. However, I still feel we should have been told there was a wait, if there would be one, and sitting at a table full of food chunks on Valentine’s Day (let alone any others), isn’t very cool. So for those couple things, in addition to all mention above, 3 starts is what it gets.
Terrible food. Chips brought to the table were cold and very salty. I probably need to go get my blood pressure checked. Enchilada sauce taste like it came straight out of a can and the meat was drier than a Texas tumbleweed rolling thru the Panhandle desert. Do yourself a favor and go to another restraunt.
We liked the look of the menu outside so decided to try it on our last day in San Antonio. The drink they brought out was very small. We just wanted to share some nachos for a light snack with our drinks. When they brought the nachos, both of our faces just looked at the plate in disbelief. It literally looked like they laid American cheese slices on some chips. Any fast food restaurant’s nachos anywhere would be better than this. I’m only giving a 2-star because our server was very nice. If I could, I’d give him a 5 and the food a -1
We had a lovely server who was attentive to our needs. It was a nice experience to sit next to the River and people watch. Food and drinks were ‘ok’ - service was excellent. Salsa was fantastic. This restaurant is literally part of the river walk, so if you sit by the river, people will be walking through along the river walk.
Came here during Christmas week. Service was ok and food was fine. Probably will try something else next time in town though. Great views though and pet/ dog friendly.
Nice view of the river. Excellent service, the staff, and servers were friendly. The food was just ok though. It did not stand out among the numerous restaurants along the Riverwalk serving Mexican-inspired food.
I’m not sure what folks are expecting when they come here. I feel like the bad reviews are unwarranted. This food is exactly what I think of when someone says “Tex Mex”. A little pricy, like every other restaurant on the river walk. No complaints about service. Glad we took the chance. If you get the fajitas, ask for extra tortillas. Fajitas serve 2 but only come with 3 tortillas.
TERRIBLE service ! I will NEVER be back w my family! As soon as we walked n and asked to be seated out on the deck, they told us “no, there’s no servers out there til noon “ but we watched the hostess go and talk to the server and ask if she wanted another table and she looked at us and shook her head “no” , so they sat us inside at the smallest table they could find that wouldn’t even fit all of our plates and cups. They then moved us to a dirty dark table n the corner and gave us a new waiter that just started This week. We sat at our new table and watched as 5/6 waiters and waitresses walked n and out of the patio area serving them even tho we were told there were none available. We ordered our drinks which were advertised on the menu, just for the waiter to come back and tell us they don’t even have the drinks, I asked for a substitute and he has to “see “ if he can do that.. our drinks didn’t come til way after the food already came and we already started eating. Ordered fajitas for ONE, they told us we couldn’t order food for just one person. We had to order for atleast 2 people. So we ordered fajitas for 2 and they brought us fajita meat for two but rice for ONE. Then argued w us about how the little tiny serving of rice was for two people. They didn’t bring us ANY plates to eat off of, server went missing , I had to walk up to the bar to get plates and condiments but he didn’t wanna give to me either, told me I have to ask my server… Which j would’ve if I had SEEN my sever in the last 15 min. Now my meat is cold. Asked three servers for the manager,… no one would get him out there. Finally after 30 min he came out claiming to be the manager and just restated all of the things the uneducated server had told us. Got the bill and the items that were promised to be taken off still hadn’t been taken off. Didn’t bring us any tortillas for the food like we asked and paid for. Worst experience at a Mexican restaurant in my entire life
