Outdoor counter for tacos & carnitas. Outdoor counter-serve taqueria & carnitas stand for Mexican street eats in a communal setting.
This one hurts. This is my third time back and first since the pandemic. My first two visits, outstanding! They had these like stone ground corn tortillas and they were spectacular. The carnitas were moist and flavorful. Nice crispy skin as well. This time around I’m sad to say it was a disappointment. The tortillas were absolutely not the same. These ones were basically store bought. The carnitas themselves were ok, at best. Most of it was dry and there was no crispy skin to be found. Once you made a taco some bites were good but thank goodness for the Coke to help wash the rest down. I do hope they return to how it was.
This place does not look like much from the front but once you taste the food you will come back! The food is outstanding, full of authentic flavor, and done right. We tried the half pound of carnitas, shrimp tacos, fish tacos, and the tostada with carnitas. All were excellent! You order up front, wait in the back where they have an outdoor seating area, then they will bring the food to you with extra sauces. The service from the waitress was also excellent. I can’t wait to try this place again! ?
Not good carnitas at all don’t waste your money I regret spending $75 which I think they over charged me. These carnitas aren’t cooked the way they should the meat is like boiled and big pieces of fat they are chewy and have no taste and the tortillas are hard and old. I went early Sunday expecting to give my family a good Sunday brunch and I’m so disappointing these are not carnitas this is just pulled pork with no flavor I had to get home and fry them to at least be able to eat them and most of my Mexican family wouldn’t touch them. I’m so disappointed if I were a Karen I’d be there demanding a refund but I’ll just warn people to not buy these horrible excuse for carnitas ?? one star is too much. The chorizo tacos were drenched in oil like they couldn’t even drain them one bite and oil would go everywhere.
Carnitas are very mouth watering. Love them. Call ahead to see if they didn't run out before you head down there.
Great carnitas by the pound. we ordered 1 1/2 pound with fixings between four of us and had enough left over for dinner later.
One pound of Carnitas, a Topo Chico, and a side of guacamole and you’ve got a recipe for two hungry people to be quite happy. Throw in a breezy laid back patio and your feeling just right about it all.
Delicious. We stopped by at 12:30pm on a Wednesday. Moderate line to order but it moved along. We ordered 1lb carnitas and a side of beans. The carnitas come with corn tortillas, 6?, pickled onions, pico de gallo, and limes. We should have ordered extra tortills. It was really good. Really, really good. Always go to the south side of SA for the best food! The place is blink-and-you-miss-it, tables out back, clean up after yourself. The only down side, for us, was trying to find parking.
Phenomenal carnitas, highly recommended. Order at the window, there are picnic benches if you choose to eat there or take your food to go. Salsas were tasty and the tortillas were hot and fresh, but the pork is the real star here.
