Chill choice for familiar Mexican eats. Easygoing counter-serve eatery offering Mexican staples, such as tacos, flautas, plus a salsa bar.
This place is in Download Los Angeles in a very nice area away from skid row, we tried this place out of curiosity and it was recommended by a friend, the staff is so nice and friendly, they offered us to stay indoors or outdoors, as soon as we entered the place the smell was very interesting already, we ordered street tacos and it pastor and it was heavenly tasty, they have like a special sauce with mild, medium or very spicy tomatillo sauce, the tacos tasted so fresh that the corn tortillas smelled so fresh and soft, melted cheese and guacamole was really nice, tamarind drink was on point as well, highly recommended for on the go place to try
Big open space Parking is limited but there are pay to park lots. Food is great. High standard and original. Their grilled fish tacos are perfect in all honesty, wash it down with a Jamaica Hibiscus and DTLA will slowly look prettier and prettier as you enjoy it. Check out the classic newsstand upfront such a cool thing.
We tried it out just today. We didn’t expect much but we were totally surprised on how good the food was. My mother wouldn’t get over how great the chilaquiles were. The staff is super amazing. It was a guy and he was 100% on it. Super great service from him and the price shocked us in a good way! Definitely coming back and definitely recommend.
The food is delicious on here and the atmosphere is great, the tacos were presented beautifully and simple with handmade tortillas, it's absolutely the best Mexican food I've ate in LA so far 10/10
Casa La Doña is a family owned Mexican food spot with one of the best home made salsa bars in Los Angeles!! All of the food is freshly made, they offer plenty of rare dishes from Central Mexico that you can’t order anywhere else in the city, and the owners and staff are always in welcoming and good spirits! The only thing I would recommend is adding a bathroom for customers, but if you really gotta go just head across the street to Living Foods, the restrooms there are public and the staff is also nice. Beware going on taco Tuesday, the line can wrap around the corner BUT if you have the time it’s totally worth the wait!! Parking could be better, it’s either street parking in the meters or $10 cash above the business.
Had the pork and birria. The pork was pretty good , didn’t care for the birria as it was greasy over being a seasoned shredded meat. Enjoyed the homemade corn tortillas though because they were thicker than regular corn tortillas
Great $1 taco Tuesday. The tacos are on par with other Los Angeles taco joints. What makes this place is the extensive salsa bar and $3 chips and guacamole.
The Mexican restaurant is located in Downtown Los Angeles and is one of the favorites of my colleagues (but only on Tuesdays). I was convinced to order my lunch here on Taco Tuesday. Unfortunately that was not a good decision. The quality of the ingredients used in 3 different tacos had not met my expectations. But certainly it is also difficult to get high quality food for $ 1 per taco.
