The chalet is a welcoming addition to the river's north side. A mountain-type theme that takes you back to a Colorado-style ski resort. The drinks are spot on, and the food is delicious. The shrimp is one of their secret sauce recipes—bloody good with a Mary. ? Now serving Brunch. A relaxed vibe with good music.
Chalet has a very cool Mountain themed restaurant, and serves good cocktails, apps, and entrees which is something I highly value. Their coolest drink was the Old Fashioned that comes in a glass case maple wood smoked. Pretty unique.
Had a wonderful time brunching with girlfriends. The mimosa tower was very aesthetically pleasing but really small. The four of us managed to finish it quite easily. You’ll need to order more drinks for sure. The juices and fruits were really fresh and sweet- mango, berry, guava and orange. The food was delicious as well! Service was great but a little slow but the food made it worthwhile!
This is such a wonderful restaurant to go to, especially in winter! I love the ski-resort vibe and atmosphere. The food and drinks are wonderful, especially their Aprestini which is their take on an espresso martini. It was delicious! The mac and cheese is also amazing as was the chicken sandwich!
Overall 4.5 stars! I am satisfied and will absolutely return. As an NYC local foodie, I am not easily impressed but Chalet got the job done. 1) the espresso martini sure is worth the hype. It’s high quality. Though keep in mind you must be a true coffee lover to enjoy it, in my opinion. 5/5. 2) the ratatouille was not quite what you’d get at a French bistro, but it was satisfying and I enjoyed it. Cooked to perfection and the freshness of the ingredients was apparent. 5/5 3)the shrimp did not disappoint. 4/5 4) the mac and cheese did what it needed to do. Perfect ratio, not salty, not bland. Just right. 5/5. 5) the broccolini was perfectly charred for my taste. Though they should consider serving it with a grilled lemon wedge (like they do with the shrimp) 4/5 6)the truffle fries did not do it for me. I am a huge truffle fan and these did not hit the mark. Barely tasted the truffle and not enough parmesan. I’ll pass next time. 3/5 7) the banana foster almost had it. Just the foster could use a tad bit more rum flavor to balance out the sugar. 3/5 Overall we had a good experience, the service was fast. Though it’s a bit loud and crowded. Make sure to reserve in advance. We didn’t have a reservation and ended up sitting at the bar.
We had an excellent brunch experience at Chalet in River North. We loved the decor & all of the workers were friendly. I would definitely recommend the mimosa champagne tower if you have a group of people & their take on the espresso martini was so good that I had to order a couple of them. I would definitely return in the future to try some different menu items.
This meal was so good, I booked another reservation for next month while I was eating dessert. Food was incredible, service was great (and fast), and prices are reasonable. We started with the Mac & Cheese and Rocky Mountain Meatballs, which were both delicious. Make sure to save room for dessert! I highly recommend the Bananas Foster, but the warm fudge brownie was also great.
Chalet has a really cool ski-lodge concept, so I was looking forward to visiting, especially after seeing the menu! I tried a wide variety of cocktails including the Smoked Old fashioned. The presentation of this was very impressive, but does raise the price a tad. All of the cocktails had great flavors and beautiful presentation. I also recommend the aspres-tini (espresso martini), and the Freestyle 75. For appetizers, we got the chicken skewers (I would try a different app next time, these were good but didn’t WOW), and the Salmon Tartare which was a definite wow and I will be getting this one again! Amazing flavor. For entrees we had to get a flatbread (chicken pesto - we loved it). But the star of the show was the Honey Braised Short Rib. The flavors were insane and the meat literally fell off the bone. I HIGHLY recommend - pairs perfectly with the chive whipped potatoes! For dessert, get the Bananas Foster and thank me later!! I mean WOW. Overall, I was very impressed with the menu options here. Everything tasted wonderful and the presentation was thoughtful and added to the experience. I wish service was a tad faster (it seemed to be a bit more casual, even though the menu is upscale). They also have shot skis which looked like a lot of fun! Definitely try this spot!
