Warm spot for upscale American fare. An elevated American menu from a husband-&-wife team served in a narrow, elegant space.
Bottom line: I would go back here if I were in the neighborhood. Great local spot. Ended up here as we were at the theater across the street. Saw it on the way in and it looked great. So glad we stopped in. Really well made cocktails to begin. The dumplings were out of this world delicious: Short Rib and mushroom are the way to go. Our group shared all the dishes and it was a great way to try the offerings. Generous portions and reasonable prices. Easy place to come back over and over again.
My bf and I have been here twice now. Both times have been amazing but the second time is probably our favorite! We had pascal as our server and he was nothing short of wonderful. He was super attentive. When I ordered a margarita with salted rim the bar put a little amount of salt and I wasn’t gonna say anything because it’s up to the interpretation of the bartender, but pascal walked by and immediately noticed and reapplied the salt for me to exactly how I like it which is A LOT. The food is so tasty. We got great recommendations from pascal as well. We are planning on coming back frequently to taste the rest of the menu. So happy this place is in our neighborhood. What a find!
I had a good time here. It was my first time, and our server went over the menu very well. The presentation of our food was well done, and everything was delicious. I really enjoyed my cocktail too. Duckfat washed old fashioned was very good. Only thing I would say is that all of our main dish came with noodle; Trouts and meatball. I wish I'd known that since we got carbonara noodle dish as well. But other than that, it was great. I would come back here for sure.
I absolutely love the place; one of my favorite restaurants and I am so disappointed with my last order. The Vietnamese Meatballs’ recipe changed substantially. I am kind of frustrated that there was no indication that the recipe changed, and I only found out once I opened the takeout order. I get that the restaurant changes the menu often, however why wouldn’t you change the name of the dish or at least update the description to explain this change? I’m really bummed that this new version does not even come close to its predecessor.
Modern place especially for the area. Service was super nice, many attentive people. The kim chi cheese fries were a big portion and the melty cheese was tasty. Burger was rich and cheesy. Skinny fries with that were gucci. The coconut cake was the reason I came. It could have been a little more most, but was very flavorful which compensated for that. Dumplings were deec. Don’t sleep on the happy hour 5-6, cheaper appetizers!
Everything has always been delicious here. Arrive in time for happy hour, and get some good deals on appetizers and drinks, with your savings get the baked Alaska, which was very good, and I rarely see on a menu.
Stopped here on a whim; truly ended up being my favorite summer patio supper this year. Short rib dumplings to die for, Milk bread with a genius butter, Crispy rice noodles I refused to share, and a gorgeous 4 layer coconut cake.
Food: This place has a burger that was consistently ranked in the top ten of the best burgers in Chicago, so I had to try it. It did not disappoint. One of the best burgers I've ever had, hands down. Juicy, cheesy, greasy, and filling, with sweet pickles. They had really nice fancier items as well, like pork dumplings and scallops which we also tried. The chef truly is creative with a lot of control and care over the menu items. Service: When we first arrived, it was mostly empty, and we didn't have a reservation. I had looked on their website previously and it said they had open tables to reserve between 6:30pm and 7 for that night, right before we left for the restaurant. It only took about 10 minutes or so to get there. After arriving and being greeted at the hostess stand, the hostess sent us packing saying they had no openings until 8:30! I immediately hopped on their website booked for a reservation for two at 7pm. We went back inside, where the hostess was surprised, and then proceeded to seat us. So either the hostess just missed seeing there was a table open or someone just cancelled. Either way, BOOK A RESERVATION. The place filled up quickly after that and was extremely busy. Our server was friendly, we got our food and drinks on time, but we were only able to place one drink order, as the server did not come back around to ask for refills. Water was refilled constantly, but I would have liked a full beer with my burger. In and out in less than 2 hours. Atmosphere/Decor: Busy. Busy. Busy. The tables and chairs were a little squeezed together but very comfortable. They had a family room in the back for larger parties, and the inside reminded me of a combination of an old grandma's kitchen with an updated, hipster vibe. Lighting was a bit darker to throw a chill mood, and the bar extended all the way to the back, all tables and floors were wood grain. Vibe: Mix of people coming in for drinks, coming in on dates, friends eating out and families having meals together. Drinks: The drink menu and wine list looked fantastic, would have liked to try another drink besides the one beer I had, which was good. Good selection of local breweries on tap. The bartender was constantly shaking and mixing drinks behind us. Price: One appetizer, Two meals, two drinks, and dessert ran us exactly $91, before tip. Parking: Street parking is available right outside the restaurant on the same street. We were able to grab a spot right in front, although, it fills up fast, and may require a longer walk than we had. Parking is $2.50/the in the city.
