Buzzy New American fixed-price venture. Trendy New American venue offering a dinner-only fixed-price menu in bare-bones but chic surrounds.
The interior decor was nice and I enjoyed the open kitchen to the back and seeing the action. The dishes were either too acidic (too much citrus/lemon) or lacked in flavor. For the price, it should have been better. Also the staff didn’t let us know theres a 3.5% credit surcharge or maybe i just missed it. ?♀️ 2 stars for the excellent service. As for the food tho, I think you can get better food from other restaurants for the same price.
Came to the place with high expectations and it overall was pretty satisfied. Went for the table d’hôte. It came with 6 courses including a dessert at the end. Stars among the offering were the scallop, prawns and eel dishes. The beef wagyu dish was a bit heavy on the lemon. The rest of the meal, was alright. The dehydrated strawberry cream was a nice dish to end off the meal. The service was good throughout the evening. Overall would recommend and would comeback to see what new cool concepts they have to offer.
Very nice experience. The food was delicious and quite unique. The staff was very knowledgeable. The only slight downside is that they have a strange charge for using your credit card.
Maybe my expectations were too high, we tried two thirds of a la carte menu, most dishes were good but only a few were worth the price and i left underwhelmed. The mushroom tart, pork, tofu and budin noir dishes were just ok if not a bit heavy handed and boring. The seppia, lobster, scallop crudo and tartar on the other hand were really balanced and inspired dishes. Happy to have tried it I won’t do it again and can’t quite recommend it. Also I should mention that their mostly natural wine fud is a bad idea and someone should really put a stop to that bs!
New American, where every dish is a knockout. Service is warm, professional, and efficient. Wine pairings are interesting and creative. Staff really knows the menu.
let me preface by saying i hate leaving bad reviews and i never ever do this except to warn someone. this food costs $300 for two people, so i’m warning you as a public service. every item of food was cold and like, not good at all, except for the wagyu tartare which was an 8/10. the mushroom tart was a 5/10 and gave me an allergic reaction so watch out for that, i am not allergic to mushrooms or mold. the crab was horrific. i would like to repeat that everything was cold, like not on purpose, like it had been sitting out for 20 mins. the service was incredible though! 1 stars for service i would rather have gotten tacos.
Contra is a solid 5 stars for me! The menu never disappoints. They always have a few staple items on the menu along with new items I haven't tried before. I've dined here alone and with a group and every time my experience feels special. I love the wine here and the cocktails. The desserts are amazing! The staff is courteous and cool as usual.
I had high expectations from this place - both for the Instagram hype and for the Michelin Star. We found the food to be good- the degustation menu was fairly priced at 110$ and with good variety, although the flavors were not as sharp and well defined as similar restaurants. We were a bit disappointed by the service - we asked for more bread and were met with a lot of resistance, being told they only have enough slices for the number of customers they have on any night and that we should consider the bread a gift (???). They finally brought us some after quite some complaining. Overall service could be improved.
