Chinese bites, cocktails & pool table. Atmospheric hangout with pool table & full bar serving Cantonese- & Shanghai-inspired dim sum.
Friends took us here... Rumored to be the best dim sum in Philly, we had to try it. Came on a Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 pm. Wasn't that crowded and we were seated on time. Service was friendly and attentive. The food was decent, but not the best dim sum we've had. Portions are pretty big, though. Located in University City, the restaurant has a few different seating areas, including a bar/lounge on the ground floor, and another bar upstairs with a pool table.
We arrived to Philly and got to campus and my daughter lit up when I asked her where she wanted to eat, she immediately said Dim Sum. We had the scallion pancakes and those were a HIT! I will admit, when I heard scallions I was skeptical because I though it would have an onion taste, but I was beyond wrong! I am glad that I tried it because it’s something new that I truly enjoyed. We also had spring rolls and while it comes with sweet chilli sauce I personally like it with peanut butter sauce and it did not disappoint. I had the pleasure of trying wonton soup and although I’m not a soup person, this was my favorite out of everything I had. My daughter introduced me to Dan Dan Noodles she loves it; I in the other hand liked it but was not a fan of the texture of the noodles. It was my 1st time trying these types of noodles, so I guess I have to give it another shot to see. We also had Dry pot chicken my family loved it, but I did not. It was too spicy for my liking on top of me not liking the flavor. Lastly, we had the beef dumplings, that too was a hit! Perfectly cooked and the dipping sauce added a little extra flavor. The ambiance was nice and service was great. I will definitely patronize again with my daughter while in town as she loves this location!
3.5 We ordered the hot and sour soup which is a must eat here! We also ordered scallion pancakes which were pretty good (though on the oily side) and spicy shrimp dim sum which we didn’t enjoy at all. The dry pot chicken was pretty good and the mapu tofu was way too oily. There were some hits and some misses. We come again to try some of the other items. The service was mediocre but nice ambience.
The menu was really overwhelming and we most definitely over-ordered for two people but I wouldn't complain. There was a mixture of both recognizable dishes and dishes I hadn't quite heard of before. We did order a bit adventurously, hoping to try out a majority of vegetarian stuff on the menu. The tofu skin was the best I've had, the spring rolls were regular. The pumpkin tarts and the Durian puffs were very different from anything I've ever had - the pumpkin filling was light and not too sweet while the Durian filling was a bit more dense and sweeter but both of these somehow unintuitively worked as an appetizer/dim sum (than as a conventionally sweet dessert). The dumplings were really nice too, but nothing extraordinary. The dry pot tofu was spicy and added a kick to the comfortable fried rice we had ordered.
Very good. Nice variety of Dim Sum choices. The soup dumplings were the only disappointment. They were luke warm and did not contain any "soup". The rest of my dishes were really good. Garlic pickled cucumbers had a lot of pungent garlic on them. Honey vinegar spare ribs were delicious. Tofu in Black Bean sauce was perfectly prepared. Huge pot of steaming hot Chrysanthemum Tea was a perfect compliment to my meal.
The food all came out fast, and everything tasted great! The extra spicy shrimp dumplings were pretty, and the beef stuffed scallion pancakes were especially good. The happy hour cocktails were only $5, sweet & fruity. The atmosphere was very chill, and the service was great too.
This one was suggested by my cousin. Dishes we are are eggplant fry, Singapore noodles, chicken and mushroom dumplings, veg pancake, and pepper chicken fry. All of the dishes are amazing and less expensive. Interior is so good and welcoming. One should try this restaurant, if u like asian food.
Every time I come, they never disappoint! I enjoyed the Singapore Mei Fun, salt & pepper wings, and vegetable dumplings! We also ordered “Young & dangerous” cocktails. Our server was awesome!
