Unique oyster bar on a historic boat. This seasonal oyster bar on the deck of a historic fishing boat serves seafood entrees & drinks.
Really convenient location for dinner and drinks. Some really cool bars on the pier to check out before/after dinner. First impressions: I was surprised how much the boat moved while docked at the pier. It took some getting used to at first but after a few drinks I really didn’t notice it. The cocktails were really well made and refreshingly high quality for the price. Really great vibes for a date spot if boats/oysters are your thing. I liked the lobster roll but to be honest the side salad was incredibly boring. For $35 I expect them to put minimal effort into a side for this dish. Other than that, my friends and I enjoyed our meal and the oysters were very solid.
Stopped by for lunch and drinks. Service was great! Loved the oysters. Mermaids were my fave vs navy points. Lobster rolls and fries were so yummy. The Paul Louis sparkling wine is my new favourite champagne. The view and atmosphere were fantastic! We love to go back.
Great vibe. View is fantastic too. Food is fine too but I am expecting more for the price. In particular, for an oyster bar, I am actually a bit disappointed by the oysters. Also note that dining on a boat apparently affected the weather. However, can’t say their weather policy is flexible. The place allow 24 hours advance cancellation/modification. For summer in New York I would consider it tricky. Also if one try to make a phone call they will just ended up stuck in the automated message without being to speak with a human.
This is a really fantastic place for a special occasion, or just if you're in the mood for some great oysters and a meal with a view. You can't beat the ambience of being on a boat, especially if it's a beautiful day out. We sat at the oyster bar and watched them shuck the oysters which was a treat, but the oysters themselves were fantastic. Next time I'll definitely get the menu option of trying all the oysters. We also got the watermelon salad, which was excellent, and the lobster roll. I've had subpar lobster rolls before, and as someone from New England can be pretty picky, but this one was great. Nice buttery toast, great tasting lobster. The cocktails were excellent as well - I had the Skipper Key, which was nice, sweet, and refreshing, but my sister got the Mariner which was really something unique and I'd definitely recommend. Overall, a great experience, great food, and I'd happily come back on a nice summer day.
So excited for the summer season at Grand Banks! I’ve been a regular here for years. Some nice new additions to the space this year - expanded the bar and seating on the deck. Classic! So much fun! A great experience and the menu is to die for. Staff is so accommodating + a pleasure to be around. See you again soon x
The location of course is special and memorable — including the views, being in a school old boat and the pier and surrounding area. The food is better than I figured it would be — more gourmet than expected. That said, you pay for that location, so you may want to know that the boat rocks when there are waves and I’m sure some people may find that uncomfortable. If that doesn’t bother you (it didn’t bother us) then plan ahead to get in a round of mini-golf at the same pier while you are there to make the most of your trip. Enjoy!
We enjoyed picturesque views and a fantastic dining experience. Grand Banks hits every mark and makes it look easy. Oysters: maybe the best I've had in NYC. Mains: we had the steelhead trout and lobster roll. Both were exquisitely prepared. We also had the meatballs as an appetizer; they were phenomenal. Crew (servers/reception): Everyone we interacted with was warm, friendly and eager to help us have a great night. Atmosphere: fantastic - it's a sailboat with some of the best sunset views in the city. We can't wait to go back!
My last night in New York and my craving for oysters lead me here. I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better dinning experience. The service was phenomenal (Katherine is a gem, her bright personality really left an impression on me). The whole staff seemed to work and flow together well and it made the environment that much more inviting. I started with the Montauk Pearl oysters and the Tropicalia, a vodka based cocktail with watermelon, lime, and cucumber. Both hit the spot and were just what I needed to cure my hankering. I decided to stay a bit longer which called for another drink, and well, the lobster roll, because at this point I was all in. I’m glad I didn’t hold back! Everything was delicious. It was a beautiful day and a lovely meal! Thank you to the staff for heaps of kindness and providing folks with a memorable experience ?
