My friend and I came at 7:30, we put our selves in the queue and was told we'd have an hour wait. We got a text to return around 8:50 but once we arrived we had to wait another 20-30 minutes to finally get seated. At this point we had only 40 minutes to eat our food and hotpot is not a food you should eat quickly. Also it is advertised as all you can eat hotpot with 29 per person but you have to pay for the broth as well which is 12 and then 3 per person for dipping sauces. After the tip for 2 people we paid around $90. There also wasn't a lot of options compared to other hotpot places I have been to before. Broth was spicy and tasty and meat was fine. But for as long as we had to wait and for how many extra charges we paid I'd say it wasn't worth it. The bathroom toilet is broken, you have to pull a string in order to flush. The decor and the hotpot itself was beautiful though!
Loved this place! My friends and I came here this past weekend for Lunar New Year. There were plenty of tables and the service was great. The staff was super quick and attentive. The hot pot itself was also so flavorful and delicious. THE DIPPING SAUCE STATION IS AMAZING. So much variety!
The hotpot was all-you-can-eat. I did 5 rounds of orders despite accidentally ordering very spicy broth (my stomach can't handle strong spice). This caused me to metamorphose into a water gun spewing organic chocolate milk at 500gal/minute later that night. While I was suffering in the bathroom, I thought the food was so great I want to drive back for another round because it was just that good. The place is very fancy and I love the pot design
Amazing service, yummy broth and good options with a great vibe. We had a very relaxing and friendly experience with the best waiter. The choices to add to the broth made it even better and they have New Zeland halal lamb. I definitely recommend!
I love the soup there. I always eat 2 combination soups (Extra spicy and Chicken). Everything looks fresh and good. Especially, the shrimp plate.
Interesting take on hotpot. Laojiumen Hotpot Chicago is all you can eat for $28.95 a person, not including sauces, soup or service and gratuity. BYOB helps, but things get pricey really quick. Choose a soup base, ask for mild as the "hot" gets ridiculously spicy quick. Vegan options with plenty of vegetables... Meats were plentiful and really made the broth stand out. This is a four star as they were out of many "fresh" ingredients mainly all mushrooms, ribs and higher cuts of beef at our dinner rsvp at 6:30pm. Laojiumen is definitely a place for all you can eat goodness but at $80 with tax before gratuity, it's not an affordable option for a light dinner for two.
This place was awesome. Had never been to a Hotpot place before. The owner's boyfriend came by and helped us select. He also made a great recommendations in terms of dipping sauces. The place was very clean, the 1/2 & 1/2 broth was delicious, and it was fun dipping all your food. The only reason I wouldn't give it 5 stars was the service. We never got the pumpkin and some other items had to be substituted. Some of our original menu items were never brought and it was tough to get water.
Absolutely delicious! We had the all you an eat, and it didn't disappoint. There was so much food that we only managed to fit one third on the table each time.
