American pub food in a polished setting. Sliders, steaks & salads prepared in a refined, wood-&-brass, 2-level pub with a patio.
A super lively spot with a variety of fantastic drinks and food. I’d highly recommend reservations! Although busy, the space itself is really quite large, even extending upstairs onto another floor. The food was amazing—upscale comfort food. It was impressive from stepping into the door to leaving. Our waiter was kind and attentive (and also helpful when we couldn’t make a good decision!). And the separate Build Your Own Manhattan menu was actually very fun and had a variety of options to let you create your perfect cocktail.
We went to LUXBAR for a rehearsal dinner. The service was fantastic. Every few minutes a server was offering an appetizer and drinks. They were very attentive and the food was delicious. For the sit down part, the steak and cauliflower steak were delicious. We were given 2 deserts! Granted, this is based on the wedding party's decisions on food/drink choices, but the execution was great! We were on the second floor which has beautiful windows and views.
We arrived in Chicago later in the evening, and it was one of a very few places still open, so we decided to visit it. The overall experience was decent, but not excellent. First of all, it was very loud inside, a lot of talkative groups of people having loud conversations. Second, everything takes quite a while (waiter to come to the table, for food to be brought, etc). It could be due to a large number of people in this spot… Some negatives are: they do not have any draft beers, the menu is quite limited, and they were out of chili during our visit. The food that we ordered though was pretty good, and the booth that we were sitting at, was also very comfortable and private.
My Server Ashia, was fantastic, very professional and attentive, never bothering her guests. I'm a Restaurant Manager myself back home and I noticed also how she interacted with other tables. I was a solo diner and she made me feel very welcomed. Food and old fashioned were also great! Keep up with the good work. Well done.
Old fashion was good…kale salad was fantastic and steak was a little over cooked. Not a bad vibe but too over crowded. Was expecting something more intimate, not a good date night spot. Instead just a place to hang out and grab drinks and wings.
Tried to eat next door at The Original Pancake House and the line was out the door. Went next door to Luxbar and was seated immediately. Ordered an espressos martini and a French omelet with sausage on the side. Delicious! The service was spectacular. Great experience.
Spending my birthday weekend in chicago and my husband made reservations here. 1st thing I like is that it was within close walking distance to the Viceroy. Great atmosphere. Great waiter and food. The manager gave us his personal business card in case we ran into any issues which we didn't. :) Between my husband and I, our bill was over $100 ( tip included). We ended up getting the Moscow mule, lux pretzels, lux Royale burger, BBQ chicken sandwich with a fried egg, Macaroni Gratin, caramel latte and the cookie skillet
I’ve been to LuxBar before and had a great experience. This time was a little less so. My girlfriend and I decided to get starters, steak and cocktails. Everything was very good and tasty until we got to the steak. We both ordered medium rare but received it cooked nearly medium well. We sent the steak back and asked for it to be cooked medium rare instead but the server returned with the same steak and told us the person who cooked it thought it was fine, I thought this was unprofessional. The manager, William, came around to check on us and noticed our table was wobbly and promptly came to the rescue to fix it. He later came back to the table after the steak fiasco and took one steak off the bill. It was a nice gesture but not really what we were looking for. Overall it was a decent experience and William is the sole reason for the 4 stars vs 3. Will be back but hoping for a better experience from the kitchen next time.
