Chic Italian spot serving rustic fare. Italian BYOB offering a Rome-born chef's rustic fare in a compact, open-kitchen space.
We came to Melograno on a whim for dinner and will definitely be going back, this time hungrier so we can experience more of their authentic Italian food. Atmosphere - we were seated near the window a bit far from the action, which gave us the perfect balance of getting a cozy, personal feeling while also being able to listen to the rest of the crowd (which included some older couples speaking Italian, always a good sign). It never got too loud, just a comfortable noise. The decor is simple, and you can see into the kitchen as you eat. No need to overdress here either, nice but casual should fit right in. Service - our server was great, food came pretty fast a fresh and we were never left wanting. Manager came around to each table to check on everything as well, which is always appreciated. Food - the menu is classic Italian with your apps, pasta entree, main course, and dessert. We only did an app and pastas, which were delicious. Can’t remember if the pasta is homemade, but it was high quality regardless and we both had rich sauces to go along with it. They also had 4 off menu specials, so while the menu might seem small there are further options. Drinks - BYOB Price - on par with what you’d expect in Rittenhouse, think around $10-$12 per app and around $25 per entree. Price felt fair and the quality of the food certainly met expectations. Italian and pasta fans should definitely check it out. Great place to go if you want a low-key night out and don’t feel like getting up charged for your drinks. Good for a date night or a small group.
Friend recommended this Italian restaurant to me. Great experience, Food is delicious, delicious and delicious! Me and my boyfriend kept saying “this is so great” while eating it! My boyfriend is really picky about the food, but he praised about the dishes he had many times. Also service is awesome! Love it!
This place never misses a beat. The vibe, the comfort of the food is effortless. Truly a culinary gem in a town that doesn't know how to keep them. Melograno is what you want in a restaurant: Great good, service, and just a place that feels like home.
Welcoming service and subtly flavored food. My wife loved the pasta in tomato sauce. I got the salmon and while it was great, my only complaint was the portion size for what was a $30 entrée. I’m not a big guy but you’re going to need to order more plates if you’re coming in hungry.
My favorite spot in Philly! I could not speak more highly of this hidden gem. The waitstaff is always so accommodating, pleasant and engaging. The atmosphere is so lovely, great date spot, group hang, or place to bring visitors. And the food is unbelievably delicious. I’ve had a number of things on their menu over multiple visits, and everything is incredible. I always recommend this spot to people! It is BOYB.
We came for restaurant week and were very happy with the food and service. Variety of options to choose from. Entrees and appetizers were also decent sizes. Love that it's byob.
Pictured below is the granchio dish. We also split a burrata appetizer and tiramisu dessert. I liked all the food and the ambiance was pleasant. The waiter was attentive and friendly. I deducted a star because we were somewhat rudely told that “people were waiting” by who I assume was the manager, after lingering to finish our glasses of wine less than 5 minutes after paying the check. I understand that it was a busy Friday night, but it rubbed me the wrong way. The same person also moved the table next to ours in the middle of our dinner, which was a little off-putting. Maybe they need to accept less reservations.
Great service from the whole wait staff. Someone who wasn’t even our waiter offered to chill out wine. The food was amazing with fresh made pasta. I definitely recommend getting the Tartufate, it was phenomenal. It is a BYOB restaurant
