Upscale American fare & expansive views. Bay & skyline views draw diners to this elegant eatery, serving French-hued American cooking.
I really wanted to love this place! My husband and I came here for dinner for our anniversary in May and quite honestly it just didn’t live up to our expectations. The view was AMAZING, the food was pretty good but not as good as expected, and the service was good. Mostly we just felt completely out of place here! I also think it’s kind of ridiculous to charge for bread and butter? Yeah it’s $2 a person so not a big deal, but also we’re already spending so much money here, just give us the bread for free! My husbands steak was over cooked which was very unexpected for a restaurant of this caliber, and my lamb was delicious, but the flavor just got boring by the end of it. Overall, it was a really good experience, but we won’t be returning. Personally we prefer C Level Lounge for a beautiful view of San Diego but a little less “elite” so we feel like we can relax and really enjoy the meal.
Amazing food, amazing service, amazing view! If Google review has 6 stars, I’ll definitely give them 6 stars! Highly recommend the ribeye steak, it’s completely different as whatever you experienced before, try it and you won’t regret! Another great dish is the mussel, very special sauce, super tasty! And, the desert are super super good, reserve some room for them!
We celebrated our 1st Valentine's Day at Mister A’s with the great view of downtown San Diego and the plane’s landing at the airport. Can see the bay and the ships sailing out of the harbour. We had the Cajun-Style Shrimp and Heirloom Grits, Buttermilk fried chicken and waffle, house-made ice cream and Cool as Cucumber I have ever had. The taste was authentic !!! Service was excellent from the moment we walked in until we left. The ambience is memorable.
The food was incredible. The service was great and atmosphere was perfect. I would like to come back during the day so I can see the view better . I ordered the pasta with lemon and basil . It was incredible and the ossobuco was phenomenal. My favorite dessert was the lemon tart! The only downside was the bathroom was outdated and small and didn’t really match up to the overall experience . But besides that the food was incredibly priced and I can’t wait to come back
Mister A's is a great place to impress someone with the view, food, and the service. He or she or they will not be disappointed! Parking is available under the building then take the elevator to the top floor for an awesome view of night time San Diego! We had our company party here and you cannot beat Mister A's for service. Your water & wine glass was continually refilled, the entries came out just as ordered and everyone was served one right after the other despite 4 long tables of guests! Tray passed appetizers included ahí tuna, lobster bites plus a table full of lobster tails, crab legs, mussels, clams, and large shrimp. We had a prefix menu with choice of Caesar salad or lobster bisque. I'm lactose intolerant so I was offered a fantastic green salad with shaved radishes, small fruit slices, pecans, and avocado with balsamic dressing. Very very delicious. I was told the lobster bisque fell quite short of expectations as it is usually has a tomato base with heavy cream added to the seafood/lobster stock. Apparently it didn't have quite enough cream and the base tasted peculiar. Next entree I chose was the prime rib and short rib duo. The short rib melted in my mouth and the mashed potatoes with mushroom sauce was to die for. Not so much for the prime rib. It was tough and fatty. Next up dessert which I opted for chocolate blackout cake. The flavor was good but cake was dry. And I should have reminded the server no whipped creme since milk products throw my system for a loop (mashed potatoes & gravy probably had milk also). But I scrapped it off and called it a day. Overall fantastic service! Just a few snafus that didn't reflect on the servers. I'm sure if I had complained about the prime rib I would have had a better piece or got a substitute but by this time with all the appetizers and flowing beverages I was doing good to save room for dessert! Besides it wasn't my dime!
I finally have a favorite restaurant in San Diego! I came here with my date for Mister A's first jazz brunch. The restaurant is gorgeous, the staff are fantastic, the cocktails are brilliant, and the food is both delicious and filling! Regarding parking, there is indeed street parking. On a Saturday morning, it was very easy to find spots (you pay the city to park). Normally street parking stresses me out but I was able to park in front of the building lobby (which is gorgeous and the man at the desk was friendly). The Saturday brunch didn't have valet but it didn't need it.
What a place this place is. Great cocktails to start with. Had an old fashioned delicious. Order a rack of lamb and it was cooked to perfection best Lamb I have ever tried. Our server was very knowledgeable as well, helped my wife with his expertise in wine narrowing down the selection. Would definitely go back. View from the top of the building was unreal you could see a great deal of the city sky line.
We came here to celebrate my partner's 30th birthday late June, and it did not disappoint one bit. We got outdoor seating for dinner with a spectacular sunset and night view of downtown. Service was attentive to our needs and made us feel welcome. The food also did not miss their mark. It was a great experience starting from the warm mussels and creamy caviar to the juicy ribeye and salmon, and finishing up with a soft lemon tart with crunchy flakes.
