Honeymooned in Greece and fell in love with Mastiha, among many things. Read this was one of the only places with it available to drink so made a res for vday. We both got the Hydra Breeze cocktail and it was delicious and you could definitely taste the Mastiha in it. To start we got the Tirokafteri dip and the Ionian Hamachi Crudo, both fantastic. For mains, the Lamb Shank Yuvetsi and Molyvos Moussaka. Both exceptional and with generous portions. The Moussaka was some of the best I’ve had. We enjoyed this all with a bottle of of Retsina, specifically, of Savatiano, Mylonas, Attica, NV. It was wonderful, and they corked the bottle and let us take it home when we had no more room and couldn’t finish. This is a wonderful Greek restaurant, not to be missed for authentic food but with a warm and pleasant surrounds. Will absolutely be coming back. Thank you!
I dined here a few weeks ago while on a quick trip to NYC. I have to say I think this is some of the best Greek / Mediterranean food I've ever had. The staff was extremely welcoming and friendly. Our waiter was fantastic and made some wonderful recommendations. We had the luxury of having a larger party (6) people so we were able to try a lot of options. We asked to dine family style and the chef was happy to oblige. The octopus was probably the best I've ever had - so tender and flavorful. The lamb was fantastic and pretty much every appetizer that we ordered was great. They also had a great wine list with a ton of options for every budget. The pricing was extremely reasonable (especially for New York). I will absolutely be back.
World class. The Food here is exceptionally delicious ?Management here is amazing. Would definitely recommend and visiting regularly God willing ???I highly recommend the Grilled octopus and Blue Fin tuna Tartar. Exceptionally delightful ? make you wanna lick your hands. See you soon Molyvos!
I recommend the Orange wine, the Three Spread Sampler, Ouzo Flamed Haloumi Cheese Saganaki, Molyvos Moussaka, and Lahano Dolmades. We ate here a week ago and live close to the new location on 43rd and 9th Ave. Great food and wine, wonderful service, laid back atmosphere and I enjoyed the decor---not because I'm into decor but because I had spent a summer in Greece travelling, camping, sightseeing and doing a little manual labor many years ago. The wall of Rhodian ceramics, plates caught my eye and one of them is the same symbol, a Rhodian deer that I have on a mug I brought home from the trip (see the photos; two statues of the deer also adorn the Harbor in Rhodos). And the stacked stone (w/no mortar) corner wall reminds me of the caretaker's cabin at the Temple of Apollo Epicurius at Bassae of Phigaleia. Thank you for the meal and stoking the old memories.
Loved it here!!! This is a dated review. Visited June 2021 for dinner. Everything was just great!!! Ambiance, food and outstanding service! Served by owner’s (also chef) wife. She charmed us all! Good friends who had various dietary considerations and myself were graciously accommodated. Mistakenly, I thought Greek/Mediterranean cuisine would be heavy and not to my liking, but I was very pleased with servers recommendations. Especially pleased it is a family operation. Again, food, service and ambiance was all stellar! ……GO, Enjoy….you’ll know! ?
This is by far the best restaurant in the theatre district. It’s also a family business. The food is delicious and the ambience is great. I sat at the bar before my party came. The cocktails were great; they serve a craft gin owned by the family and it’s unique and tasty. I always like a Greek meal but at Molyvos the food is reliably delicious, the presentation is classy and the service is great. Highly recommend the taramasalata - better than any you’d find in Greece!
Had an excellent meal here the other day - as a lover of Greek food this place is one of the best. The menu is very classic and authentic, with taramasalata better than any I’ve had in Greece. They also have great cocktails, dips, and a fabulous ambiance. My group ordered a huge variety of appetisers and none were a miss. For mains we had the stuffed peppers, moussaka, and dolmades which were all incredible as well, especially the moussaka. Highly recommend to anyone in the area.
Unbelievable food, authentic fine dining greek cuisine. Extensive, impressive greek wine collection. I was so impressed with the service (thanks to Despina) and the food, we can’t wait to come back!
