Incredible sushi. Very authentic from my limited perspective. They have amazing service and impeccable quality here. Might not look like much from the outside, but you’ll be happy you came in. They have a lot of unique items also. They give you special fermented veggies and a piece of tofu as an appetizer. Sake is delicious, as is their miso soup (served traditionally without a spoon). Their sushi quality is amazing. Everything was so delicious, it was hard to stop eating. Also liked the tamago sushi as well. We would definitely check out their other locations as well!
Nice ambience, attention to details, staff friendly and attentive, can speak Japanese. The quality of sashimi is good (for US standards). Sake selection a bit limited. Definitely recommend for people who wants to experience the taste of Japan.
Great quality sushi! Got to the restaurant early, around 5:45pm, on a Saturday without a reservation and was seated at booth immediately. The restaurant interior is very modern and clean. It felt very zen with the decor and lighting. We ordered a wide array of sushi and sashimi, everything tasted amazingly fresh. One of the most outstanding sushi of the night was the Akamutsu - red snapper (aka the queen of sushi). Of course we had to have the king of sushi (Oo toro) as well. We ended our own “tasting course” with Miyazaki Wagyu A5 Rib Eye. For $18/oz this was the most delicious steak ever. It came with a dipping sauce, which elevates the flavor even more. Ootoro has two other locations, but this location doesn’t seem as busy. It’s a great choice for sushi without the wait.
….Where should I start? Definitely fresh sashimi and great service. The fried squid legs are one of our favorites. Cuts/ portions of the fish is way above and beyond average. They have the best Chirashi in DTLA, no doubt. In fact, it will be our future destination of Chirashi for lunch and dinner. Not to mention Suntory Draft Beer closed the deal. ??
Me and my boyfriend came from Chicago to little tokyo just to eat. I saw the menu here and thought we had to go! We got 2 premium chirashis and an uni pasta. Oh-my-god. The best sushi I've ever had easily. The fish was so fresh and light. The uni pasta was so savory and creamy. The dinner was so good that I ordered the handroll box to go even though I didn't finish the chirashi because I knew I was going to want more later XD. A MUST TRY!
Food was on but it's definitely on the pricy side. I could have probably get the same quality of items at a different location at a fraction of the cost.
Really great quality fish. Fantastic options for nigiri and more. The staff are lovely and welcoming. Quiet and chilled restaurant.
Always a fantastic experience at Ootoro. They had our reservation for 13 ready when we arrived and service is immaculate. Best portions for the money as well as the best quality. This is my go to for sushi!
