Inspired Italian fare & sidewalk seating. Warm brick-lined locals' spot pairs refined Italian fare with a vast wine list, plus a patio.
We were 4 adults and 3 children. We arrived without a reservation in advance. The table was beautifully arranged including white tablecloths and a variety of glass cups. The food is varied, fresh and very tasty. The prices are reasonable. The dishes are rich. The service is excellent, the atmosphere happy and helpful. A very enjoyable experience. Highly recommend.
What an amazing experience in the Gaslamp Quarter in San Diego. Not only is it close to everything, it's in a very bustling area with tons of other restaurants and things to do. Amazing service, great food, attention to detail and truly the best ingredients with this menu. Definitely pricier than some other spots, however, couldn't recommend this enough for date night or every night. We sat outside and loved the atmosphere! If we're ever in San Diego again, this is on our list.
OP is a restaurant that I always visit when I am in San Diego. It is the oldest Italian restaurant in the Gaslamp quarter, and it never disappoints. The Cioppino, ossobucco(recommended by the Tuscan waitress) and the seafood linguine are delicious. Long Live to OP. I look forward to my next visit.
I saw a review saying that they had vegan options, so I decided to give this place a try. I arrived at the restaurant and asked the hostess if there were any vegan options, and she was quick to list all the items that could be made vegan upon request. Every time I asked if an item was vegan, the waiter would confirm and make it clear that there were no eggs or dairy, which shows how seriously my request was taken. I ordered the Pizza Vegetariana (without cheese), and it came very quickly and was the best vegan pizza I’ve ever had. The place looks very nice and I really enjoyed my dinner. I’ll sure be coming back many more times.
Incredible meal. Fantastic service. Felt as if we were back in Tuscany. Wonderful array of menu choices. Great service staff. Fine wine selection. Recommend it.
Sooo delicious! The service was impeccable! It was crazy busy and EVERYONE WAS SO NICE and delivered the best service. From the Bartender to the Bus Boys, everyone was just so pleasant and delivered the best! We had the lamb chops and their special of the night which was a Fettuccine with a vodka cream sauce & LOBSTER & other seafood. Thank you Dafne and team for a great experience! We will definitely be back! The Tiramisu was so light and delicious!
2/5 for ambiance, otherwise you could make much better basic penne a la vodka and a very basic pizza at home. The prices aren’t terrible, but the food was a solid 1 star. Not much flavor; soggy pizza crust, the warm bread and butter was the best takeaway. It’s a shame because it’s a bougie looking place we came to celebrate an accomplishment of students who traveled across the country and did their presentations today - try the places next door instead. Asti was a full house and even the pizza lounge I imagine would be better.
Food was good and service was amazing! The bread was fresh and warm, and it’s served with packaged butter. If you like your bread with balsamic vinegar and olive oil, just ask! Salad was good, but Cavatelli was amazing!! The prawns were cooked perfectly and the sauce was perfectly creamy and flavorful. The crushed pistachios also gave a nice texture! The catch of the day — sea bass over lobster risotto — was good but not mind blowing. I’ve had way better sea bass before, and the risotto was pretty ordinary. However, service was so friendly and sweet. I loved that the food portions are big, and that the sparkling water bottle is HUGE (1L) so your table will stay hydrated.
