Longtime fish house & raw bar. Oysters, lobster & other East Coast-style seafood feature at this stylish eatery open since 1976.
My husband and I recently visited Oyster House in Philadelphia. We started with the grilled octopus, which was cooked to perfection and had great flavor. For our entrees, we ordered the lobster roll and the mixed seafood grill. The lobster roll was amazing - so fresh and savory, with just the right amount of seasoning. The mixed seafood grill offered a variety of seafood, all of which were cooked perfectly and incredibly tasty. The ambiance of the restaurant was nice and intimate, with a cozy and welcoming atmosphere that made us feel right at home. We enjoyed the simple yet elegant decor and the overall vibe of the place. The service was also very good - our server was attentive and friendly, and made sure that we had everything we needed throughout our meal.
Some of the best oysters I’ve ever eaten! I had to place a 2nd order they were that good! Their food was delicious and service was great. However, their oysters stole the show. Will definitely make another trip into the city just for those amazingly fresh oysters!
My husband loves oysters so we came here for their happy hour. They've got $2 oysters, $7 rum punch and $4 beers. There are also some shrimp sliders on the menu, but we didn't get them. We loved the food!
Simply put, the best oysters I have ever eaten. I’ve had Wellfleet, Naked Cowboy, and Mystics before, but never this fresh and expertly shucked. Bright, clean, and accompanied by only the essentials (lemon, cocktail, mignonette), this was an unforgettable meal. The New England chowder, arugula salad, and lemon meringue tart were outstanding as well. Even the conversation about Chicago bike infrastructure with my cycling enthusiast server was a pleasure. This is now my spot for future visits to Philly.
Everything here was delicious! The lobster roll looks small but is actually quite full of lobster and the taste is really simple and focused on the lobster. We had the happy hour oysters and also some clams--so good! The only thing we wouldn't recommend as much is the clam chowder--it was just okay and not that full of clams.
*HIGHLY RECOMMEND* 5 stars just for oysters If you’re craving oysters, this is the place for you! Out of the few places in Philly that I’ve had oysters, I have to say Oyster House has the best. Half the place is bar seating where you can see the chefs shuck the fresh oysters in front of you. They clean the oysters really well, barely any sand/dirt left. The best part is the $2 oysters during happy hours. My friends and I can each eat a whole dozen by ourselves because it’s that good!! I love the vinegar it comes with! And if you like spice, I highly recommend asking for hot sauce, it’s a game changer! Besides oysters, they have other seafood/platters but they’re pricey. Their mussels and scallops are decent, but not sure if it’s worth the price. I think I’ll just stick to their oysters at this place! *VERDICT* Definitely would come again during happy hour whenever I’m craving oysters!!
This restaurant is kept clean… I recommend making reservations. This place is always busy because everyone knows if you want a good meal, so does everyone else ? I hope you enjoy your meal. Hope I can get a thumbs up !!! Thank y’all
Great atmosphere. Very expensive oysters! They were tasty bit it sure hurt the wallet! Ginger carrot soup was interesting. The fried oysters and chicken salad was terrific!
