Prayer Should Be Our First Response

We were having a really bad day. The kind of day when we didn’t want to get out of bed. So we lay there in bed worried and feeling hopeless.

Then our daughter Salma came to us and told us something that we keep going back to when the day isn’t going like we feel it should.

She said, “Mommy we went to the guest room and we prayed. We told God everything that was on our mind and we felt better.”

We knew this was God talking to us through our daughter. He was asking us to pray, tell Him everything that was on mind then we will feel better.

So we listened. We eventually went into that room, shut the door and there alone with God we just talked and told Him what was on our mind. And we felt better and lighter.

You see, talking to God is not always the solution we run to when life is hard. We try to figure things out on our own. But our wisdom doesn’t even come close to the wisdom that comes from God.

We are learning to seek God first, to pray first before we think. To pray first before we plan.

And when we do this, we have transferred our burdens to Him. That’s why we feel lighter.

Then Jesus said, “Come to us, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and we will give you rest. Take our yoke upon you. Let us teach you, because we are humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For our yoke is easy to bear, and the burden we give you is light.”

Matthew 11:28-30, NLT

Dear friend, have you told God all that is on your mind? Don’t just think about it, pray about. Don’t just talk about it, pray about it. Don’t worry about it, pray about it.

Prayer should be our first response not our final response.

So if your heart is heavy or you are having a difficult day or a hard season take some to time to tell God everything. Tell Him everything.

Whether in a room alone, or in a bathroom or in your car, wherever you are you can tell God all that’s on your mind and He will help you.

Till today when life gets difficult, we go into that room, shut the door and talk to the Father.
