Valentine's Caprese Skewers

Hello! I have a cute, easy appetizer to share today: Valentine’s Caprese Skewers.

Classic Italian flavors hardly ever fail, and these skewers are completely foolproof. They’re quick to assemble, visually charming and taste fresh and bright—perfect for a romantic starter or a casual snack.

This year I’ll be having a quiet, candlelit dinner at home while my partner travels for work. I’m planning a small steak dinner, cozy pajamas and lots of puppy cuddles. Not a bad way to spend the evening.

We celebrated our anniversary recently by recreating the first meal my partner ever made for me: chicken meatballs in a rich tomato sauce. It was delicious, and these little caprese skewers were a lovely appetizer alongside a glass of bubbly.

The tomato hearts are simple to make: slice each roma tomato in half at a slanted angle, then flip one half upside down and place it next to the other to form a heart shape. They look adorable on the skewers.

Ingredients are minimal and likely already in your kitchen:

  • Roma tomatoes
  • Mini mozzarella balls
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • Salt and pepper
  • A drizzle of olive oil
  • Toothpicks or small skewers

To assemble, thread a tomato heart onto the skewer, follow with a mozzarella ball and a basil leaf. Arrange the skewers on a serving plate, season with salt and pepper and finish with a light drizzle of olive oil.

They’re simple, fresh and delicious—great for Valentine’s Day or any time you want an easy, elegant appetizer.
