I got their Korean Fried Pyogo Mushroom, and it was pretty good. Wouldn’t say the quality was worth the price, but the mushrooms had such intricate flavors with the perfect texture. The banchan that came along with it had great seasoning too but wish there were more of it and less rice!
Great Korean food inside of the Central Market. There was a long line but it kept moving and the food arrived fast. Very flavorful food, and large portions, I would go again.
Friendly staff. It's "fast Korean food". Definitely not the best Korean food but with an American-friendly flavor A bit on the saltier side but not bad I recommend going once. Not too expensive. $20 per person.
I tried the Korean fried chicken rice bowl. It is Korean Fried Chicken over white rice, with pickled mu radish, gochusriracha aioli, ahi verde, galbi glaze, mixed greens, cilantro. You can choose either Original Korean Fried Chicken or Spicy KFC. Quite small for the price and nothing spectacular. It was just good. The aioli and glaze were quite delicious and complimented the greens very well. The chicken was pretty basic, nothing fancy, looked and tasted like basic orange chicken- very disappointing. Good for a one time "gotta try it just to try it" type of deal. I will not go again. There are plenty of other places to try out. The whole market area is a great place to try a whole assortment of foods from all over.
The kimchi braised pork belly was definitely a must get. Tender and blowtorched to just the right amount of char. The accompanying ban chan of kimchi, curry cabbage salad, and jjajang macaroni salad were all great complimenting side dishes. The jjajang macaroni salad was especially flavorful and had potato too. Also got the pyogo mushrooms (aka shitake) which were ok but the original flavor felt like it was missing something
Delicious short ribs and pork belly Yummy kimchi, slaw, & macaroni salad
Shiku Homestyle Korean is solid. Their menu is small but the items they serve are delicious. Shiku is located inside Grand Central Market in Downtown Los Angeles and depending on when you go, can get pretty busy. Thankfully you can order ahead. I ordered the LA Galbi and the Korean Fried Chicken and both were really good. The Galbi short ribs had a nice sweet-ish marinade to it and was quite tender. I really enjoyed the Korean fried chicken. It has the typical Korean spices that you would expect plus others that is unique to Shiku. I ordered spicy but I would consider it flaming hot. It’s more of a medium that hot. I’ll have to try the regular fried chicken next time I’m there.
Their pork belly with kimchi is worth trying - it is so tender and large portion, will fill you alone. Didn’t take any photos due to eating it right away ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ got food within five minutes and queued for about five as-well, all depending on how many people there are
