Chophouse from famed football coach. Former football coach Don Shula's clubby chain serving aged beef & other steakhouse fare.
Despite the challenges of serving a very large group, the servers were prompt and friendly. The pimento cheese appetizer was good. Many of my friends ordered the Filet & enjoyed their entrees very much. But we generally agreed the French Dip was one of the best we've ever tasted! It was so good, I hope I can visit again if I'm ever in the area! My only critique is the menu didn't state my meal came with fries otherwise I would've asked if there were any alternatives. But they looked really yummy!
The breakfast was outstanding. For $24.95, there was a wide range of breakfast food available, including bacon, scrambled eggs, potatoes, grits, oatmeal, yogurt, fresh fruit, pancakes, waffles, coffee, and more. The bacon, eggs, and potatoes were all perfectly prepared. My server, Lois, was very friendly and attentive. She made my visit feel special. They made sure I left with a coffee To Go as well a water. I will definitely be coming back here.
Wonderful Sunday Brunch!!! $21 per person all you can eat buffet til 1pm. Mimosas a tad overpriced for the size but very pleasant staff and superb ambiance. Really Nice! Thank you!
Great food and service...the house salad was crisp and fresh...the 10oz filet was delicious and cooked perfectly...the crab cakes were awesome with plenty of crab and seasoned to perfection with a little spicy kick...the Brussel sprouts were cooked beautifully with a tangy sauce and smoky bacon...highly recommended...the restaurant is in the Hyatt Regency lobby...
Not much of this venue was impressive as we expected. Our reservation was 6:30p Barely anyone there, I can see why. Service was pleasant but unrefined. Our steak was old and clearly reheated, over-cooked and tough. Not well-seasoned. Shameful for a $70 NY Strip. We asked for a second plate to share, which was brought out cold. Béarnaise was old, and slightly skinned over. Mushrooms were either canned or from the day before, or both. Salads were good and fresh - the only parts that were. This very old restaurant regrettably needs an overhaul, some interior design, and some kind of inspiration to be proud of, otherwise it just needs shut down.
Enjoyed a nice anniversary dinner at Shula's. Sad that they were out of rib eye (the only reason for 4 stars instead of 5), but the filet, pork chop, lobster bisque, and wedge salad was really good. The filet cut with a fork - high quality, flavorful beef. Will keep Shula's on the list for future Houston trips.
One of the best steak houses in downtown Houston. Good thing is that it's located just in the hotel I stayed, Hyatt regency, downtown. Mr. Raul is excellent with his services and hospitality.
Very expensive for no reason. Nothing special. Food was of good quality but at $62 dollars for a 7oz steak there should be at least a vegetable included. Just crazy.
