Very friendly staff. Dined here twice while visiting the museum. The rolls they give you are out of this world. Had the grilled chicken sandwich and fries on the first visit. The second visit I had the chopped salad with chicken. Both meals were very good and very fresh. Definitely worth checking this place out.
Restaurant in the Philadelphia Art Museum. (You must have tickets to be in the museum. Also, they require a reservation which was easy and we made right when we got there.) We opted for the served, sit down restaurant over the museum Cafe. Totally worth it. The bread is…holy moley (eat it). The burger was honestly FANTASTIC. The Stir Chopped salad was mediocre so maybe add a protein to zhuzh up the salad. At the end, they surprise you with a pine nut almond cookie which was chewy and delectable. Can’t wait to come back just to eat here.
Very good lunch. I was impressed by the quality of my dish (Herb Roasted Salmon). The complimentary pine nut cookie at the end was a nice touch. The espresso was good too. Stir is a keeper.
Terrible experience here today. My friend and I paid $180 for the 2 person package - Matisse exhibit with lunch at Stir. We were exactly on time for our reservation. The greeter, server and manager spent our first 30 mins there arguing with us. We could not get the meal deal without producing the exhibit ticket (which of course I could not find, having been scanned at the museum entrance, the exhibit and the gift shop already). Found it. We could not have the booth we requested. All three insisted that the food that came with the package was a "tasting". The ticket clearly said lunch. As the "tasting" consisted of 4 items (1 each - soup, salad, entree and dessert) it was suggested that we share one meal! We all finally compromised on a salad and entree apiece, no soup and no dessert (to total 4 items). The menu presented was very limited - 2 or 3 soups, 2 salads, 3 entrees and 2 desserts. I guess this was the "tasting" menu. We asked for bread and got two rolls in a bowl. No bread plates. Our salad had so little dressing on it that we had to ask for more dressing. We ordered burgers for entree - my friend asked for her bacon on the side. Burger came with bacon on it. She sent it back and when it came again it had no bacon on the side either. When bacon was finally brought, it was burnt. The wine selection was poor, and also limited. The star is for the really good fries!
When I found out about this restaurant in the art museum, I immediately assumed that it was going to be overpriced and mediocre. A tourist trap, right? But I went for Sunday brunch anyway. I was completely wrong and their food and service blew me away. Their biscuits are crispy but not dry, with delicious herbal flavors that make them special. The crab cakes were entirely made of crab meat—not filled with bunch of other things. The texture was wonderful as well. The pancakes were so soft and perfectly cooked as well. With big marble tables, comfortable chairs, and fantastic architecture, my Sunday brunch was a wonderful experience. The plates and cups, the plating, presentation, were all really great and fitting for the museum. While not the cheapest place, this place is a great bang for your buck. And just delicious.
A very nice lunch prior to taking in some amazing art. The burger… art in its own right.
Beautiful space, small but excellent menu, wonderful service. Great food- the rolls are amazing! Compliments the art museum experience.
Marisa was rude - took way too long to greet us and give us our drinks. Her attitude was cold and she even sighed in my face. The manager was classy and nice which saved the customer service experience. Please check that your servers don’t discriminate. I even heard another server ask 2 white guys if sitting between two Asian parties if “they’re okay”. Strange experience.
