Every time we dine here it is fantastic and magical. Especially at Christmas. The food is beautiful, flavorful, and just plain great. The atmosphere is very comfortable. And the live music was fantastic. Tavern on the green is always on our list. You have to make reservations about a month in advance, so keep that in mind!
Visited NYC for a birthday celebration and swung by Tavern On The Green for a Sunday brunch. The experience overall was excellent. Service was good, but a little slow. The seated us way in the back, essentially outside the main restaurant. Likely because we were 30 mins early for our reservation. The food was good, but not great. You really go for the experience as opposed to looking for an exceptional dining experience. My favorite thing was probably the biscuits and gravy!
It was absolutely lovely. Our appetizers were the Hickory salad and the crab cake. Our entrees were the beef bourguignon, the lamb and the cod. Of the three, choose the cod. They do a clam chowder pour over that is amazing. The lamb was also exceptional. Dessert was a cheesecake and a piece of birthday cake. I would suggest the birthday cake. The frosting is very different than what it I thought it would be. It was light and absolutely perfect. The staff we’re all very nice and sometimes I had a hard time understanding what my server was saying because of his heavy accent but I would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting New York.
This place is beautiful, entertaining, and great service. Wine was good, cocktails very nice (had the Queens cocktail), but some of the food was underwhelming. Chicken was well presented but lacked flavor. Thankfully it was not our server’s suggestion. She was right to not even mention it when we asked for suggestions lol Needs a brine or some other seasoning. Scallops were good, and I didn’t try the fish but the person who got it on our table finished it. Dessert was actually pretty good. We had to leave right after eating because we had a event to attend but wished we stayed longer.
A very elegant restaurant as seen in many movies, shows, and in-person of course! Excellent staff, aesthetic, and beautifully crafted cuisine by the top chefs. We did the Christmas Eve Prix-Fixe ($135 pp - roughly $400 after everything for two) and loved every moment! It’s perfect for family, friends, and a date! Located just steps away from Columbus circle and within the heart of Central Park. It’s a place you’ll love to return to in any season!
Lovely restaurant with a nice atmosphere. The food is very fancy (and a little expensive). Our waiter Nikolai did a great job and was more than accommodating. The only downer was the early close of the outdoor area (which I can understand as it was a little cold), because it becomes really beautiful in the dark with the beautiful lightings.
No surprise this was a 5 star experience. We loved the ambiance and the food - service was great! Would recommend making reservations well in advanced to get your desired date/time. Make sure to visit the perfectly curated gift shop on your way out.
We planned our lunch a few months in advance so we were able to get a table without any issues. It was a bit of a cold day but the way they are setup with a glass patio we basically felt like we were outdoors even though we were indoors. We ordered the special of the day - basically a shrimp salad and I ordered the fish and chips. My daughter ordered the peas and pasta dish and my younger daughter got chicken fingers. Everyone was happy with their meals - but we all agreed that the second best thing on the table were the fries from my fish and chips :) For dessert we ordered the Warm Chocolate Peanut Butter Lava Cake and the special of the day which was a pistachio dessert that was wonderful. Overall - this is a wonderful place for a lunch while in Central Park on your trip to NYC!
