Modern American fare in sceney digs. High-end American fare in a posh, clubby setting with dining rooms & a lounge with a pool table.
The Clocktower was a great experience, and the food did not disappoint. We tried the scotch egg, which was pretty interesting and tasty. The fish and chips were also really good and the cocktails were solid. I would definitely go back and recommend a visit to anyone. I plan on trying the dry aged burger/steak next!
My first time here, this an excellent spot for upscale British classics. The beef Wellington is excellent but the shepherd’s pie stole the show - so flavorful and just a wonderful take on what can be a somewhat mundane dish. They also have a sticky pudding which is also really good as well as a baked Alaska which I didn’t have but was popular as they flambé it table-side.
Had a business dinner here. We ate light. We ordered 3 starters: scallops, mac & cheese and dozen oysters. Everything was served nicely with a strong presentation. The scallops were seared just right and the mac/cheese was in a light cream cheese which did not overwhelm the palette.
Our dining experience was impeccable from start to finish. The ambiance: inviting, intimate, warm & elegant. The service: high-touch, professional, well timed & welcoming. The cocktails: deliciously divine (we had the Dill or No Dill and the Honeysuckle). The food: mouthwatering, flavorful and delicious! We had the scotch eggs (a MUST try, if you haven’t had this is the spot to try it!), crab cocktail with grapefruit, steak tartare (amazing and you can definitely split it with the portion, great quality meat too), Berkshire pork chop (cooked to perfection AND that glaze is an unexpected delight !!) and the beef Wellington was top notch - flaky and not soggy outer crust, delicious filet mignon… amazing! And by the way the homemade sourdough bread is also next level!! Such a special experience. Thank you to the amazing staff for making our anniversary so memorable. We finished with the Warm Sticky Toffee Pudding — it is my favorite dessert on this planet. Incredible all around.
?️Food: 5/5 ??♂️Service: 5/5 ?Ambiance: 5/5 ?Notes: You need to try their Buttermilk pancakes, they are soooooo soft and good ? The Avocado on toast is also good but I would add salmon as a side. The staff are really professional and kind. I would defiantly come back on my next trip :)
Service was excellent. Madison, the lady who took care of our table was great. Very engaging and friendly, and she gave the best recommondations. I asked her what her favorite was in the menu and I ordered it. My friends ended up eating from my plate cause my order was the best. Madison also engaged us with historical trivia about the building the restaurant was in. Overall: Good food, great service! If you read this and end up going, please tell Madison you read this review and that she's was very kind. We hope it makes her day! It's always nice to show people we appreciate what they do. :)
I had low expectations here, even for a Michelin star restaurant, but this place vaulted over them. Will definitely make it a mainstay of my future NYC visits. The beef Wellington was amazing, with a pastry covering so light and flakey that it could have been served standalone. The Tandoori chicken was similarly excellent, with some of the most tender chicken I’ve ever had, with excellent spicing and accompaniment. But our favorite was the toffee pudding, which may go down as one of my favorite all-time desserts. Add that they carried one of our most sought after Vouvray wines… just perfect.
I’ve been looking forward to the beef Wellington, but after waiting almost an hour, it was really mediocre. The steak itself was good, but the horseradish mash was dry and tasted like nothing. The waiter said that the kitchen messed up and they had to redo it but didn’t comp us anything for waiting so long. Fish and chips were okay, nothing really special except for the mushy pees, but does it really go with fried fish? No. The fish was fried alright but Dame does it better. Steak tartare, scotch eggs were not bad, but they did not stand out. Mac and cheese was good but a bit too rich. Drink menu wasn’t very inspiring if you want I have cocktails. Michelin star aside, it was just an okay meal.
