Intimate spot for local fare & classes. Petite, chef-owned destination for sustainable fare in an understated space, plus cooking classes.
Intimate setting with around 10 tables in the living room of an old house. Right at first look it seemed two crowded but once sat and the waiters teamwork serving made it seem plenty spacious. Each table was full on a Friday evening, and the two waiters and one bartender kept everything moving very smoothly. A well oiled machine. Service was as you would expect for the price range. Didn't have to ask twice and things came quickly. The chefs nailed it as well. My wife just got a couple of individual items and I did the 5 course with wine pairings. It was great and we'll definitely try to snag some reservations again next time we're in the area.
This is an experience, it's an investment but worth every penny. It's extremely intimate setting. Highest quality ingredients from the area treated with so much love and attention to detail. If you go invest in the 7 courses with the wine pairing so much thought goes into it. The service is exceptional knowledgeable servers, everything at your fingertips. If you have an allergy let them know when make your reservation. They are super accommodating. Please treat yourself if you can, talking to our server pick a day when you are traveling (especially in the summer) make the reservation first they fill up FAST(limited seats), seasonal ever changing menu a celebration of food. I cannot reccomend this place enough. Its definitely an experience , so expect to take time for your dinner. We had our reservation at 8 and walked out about 10 and happy for it.
This place offers a cozy environment and amazing food. We went with a small group and between all of us, we tried almost everything on the menu and everyone raved about how good it was. Come with a hearty appetite and choose either the five or seven course meal with the wine pairings. Everyone on staff was incredibly friendly and personable and also knowledgeable about the food and drinks.
This meal wasn't a typical dinner out, it was an experience!! I loved that the food was local and in-season and the menu constantly changes. The wine pairings with the multi-course meal were impeccable. Pro-tip: if planning to share some of the tasting menu, I would recommend ordering the full size from the ala carte menu...more deliciousness to go around! Thank you for a wonderful meal!
Highly recommend! Service was great and every plate we ordered was absolutely delicious! Setting is quaint and intimate. Felt like a fine dining experience at a friend's dinner party.
Our experience here was simply phenomenal. The food was fantastic, perfectly cooked and every bite was absolutely delicious. We did the 5 course dinner with wine pairing. The wines they chose were matched perfectly for each course and were accentuated with the food pairing. Highly recommend for an exquisite dining experience!
Truly amazing! We did the tasting, and it was in the top 10 best meals, I've experienced. The whole experience was a little over 2 hours but well worth it. The service was impressive, timing was spot on.
The Cook's House is a 5-star fine dining kind of establishment. The kind of place to take a significant other to celebrate an anniversary or special occasion. There is very limited seating here, it's essentially just one room that fits about 28 people, so be sure to make reservations ahead of time. They say the dress code is "just clothes", but if you're dressed down your going to feel slightly out of place. We opted for the 5 course meal with wine pairings. This included (in order) mushroom tea with olive oil, an amuse-bouche with goat butter olives, fresh bread and butter, asparagus soup, pasta, steak (or walleye), a fig salad, and an olive oil cake for dessert. They also brought out kettle corn and small bite lemon cookies at the end. Everything was spectacular, don't even bother asking if the food's good. The chefs cooked at Michelin star restaurants and trained under André Rochat. The food being exquisite is a given. Although, for the record, I thought the asparagus soup was the standout. The wine pairings were all delicious and paired to the courses with intention. I'm not a wine connoisseur by any stretch, but I watched as the servers and bartenders here dutifully explained every pour to patrons with questions who knew what they were talking about. The price is pretty steep. For the two of us with 5 course meal, wine pairings, and tip, we were all in for about $300. It's a fancy French dining experience and it shows in every way, including the bill. But it goes with the territory and if you want a truly memorable evening, then The Cook's House will give you all that and more.
