Posh New American restaurant in a hotel. Luxe lounge & eatery in the Langham Hotel offers sophisticated New American meals & river views.
Lovely cheery ambiance. Certainly on the expensive side but excellent food. The lobster sandwich for lunch was nicely stuffed with lobster. It was soft and sweet and the sauce went very well with it as did the truffles French fries. (Note to the chef … ease up on the salt … ruined the fries and had to get a fresh order with less salt.) The veggie bean burger was on point with a thick patty and a nice layer of mashed avocado and topped with creamed corn served with French fries. The service was good but a more cheerful server would have made it excellent. About $100 for two.
Phenomenal dining experience with great drinks. The service was first class. For an app we got the scallops and for the meal we got the short rib and venison. The tenderness of the rib was great, but the presentation of the version was incredible. For dessert, the home spun ice cream hit the spot. Overall, this is a great place to celebrate a special occasion.
Came here for a drinks with my partner and really enjoyed the ambience! I always adore Langham hotels but didn’t stay here on this occasion however the drinks were excellent! Really unique flavours and the ice cream was to die for! Would recommend
Food is very tasty, and the waiters are extremely attentive. Pleasant ambiance. I’ll just say the portions are absolutely massive especially for a high-end restaurant so take than into account when ordering. 2-3 people could easily share an appetizer and an entree.
We tend to dine out for two days in a row every other weekend and have tried approx. 150 restaurants in Chicago over the last 10 years. This was our 8th time dining at Travelle over the past 4 to 5 years, usually for dinner. We were a little surprised to find the restaurant quiet on a Friday evening (they are usually crowded on a weekend). Moreover, their menu was limited. However, the food and drink did not disappoint. We had the beet salad--beets prepared 7 ways, the wayghru beef tartare--chilled but each bite was excellent, the miso cod, and one the best long island duck that I have had. We finished off with their "Expresso" dessert--which was heavenly. Note: the portions are on the smaller side but filling none the less. This restaurant is an example of quality over quantity, gourmet over gourmand, excellence over mediocrity. The ambiance was great and the servers took time to explain the dishes and were very attentive. Will return again (sooner the next time).
You'd be crazy not to stop in here for food and drinks, especially if you're staying at the hotel. I got breakfast here twice and stopped in at the bar for drinks one afternoon - really enjoyed all three occasions. The interior decor and atmosphere is great - upscale but not pretentious. Really would like to try dinner here next time I'm in town, based on how well prepared and plated everything was at breakfast. The bar makes some *great* cocktails, really good with some unique presentation and glassware. Fairly respectable whiskey list too. Overall a really good experience.
I love this place. Pretty much every friend who visits I suggest meeting here for drinks or dinner. Beautiful city views and excellent food. One of the best burgers in the city
Service was a little inconsistent. The menu is very confusing, hard to tell what is an appetizer portion and what is an entree portion. The food was all beautiful and tasted good, except the charcuterie board was very disappointing.
