Russian-style fare with old-world charm. Refined, white-tablecloth space for exotic Russian & Central Asian cuisine in old-world environs.
Our experience here was most excellent. Neither of us had ever enjoyed this particular ethnic cuisine before and found the opportunity to do so irresistible… so glad we did! Between the two of us we ordered five entrees and appetizers, going all out. Everything we had was outstanding as were the hostess and server who were very nice and helpful with our decision making. Prices here are surprisingly low for the quality received. Afterwards we chatted outside with the owner at his woodworking station and found him to be quite a good and humble gentleman. Highly recommended.
Very warm and welcoming atmosphere and everything we ordered tasted great (kharcho soup and kabobs). I enjoyed a pot of tea while waiting for the food. I will definitely be returning to try more items on the menu and just to soak in the good vibes.
If you’re looking for some traditional Uzbek foods, then visit this place and give them a chance. You won’t be disappointed. The food was outstanding with a beautiful interior and the service was exceptionally good. Tried out some traditional foods like Samsa, Manti & they were mouthwatering! The shikh & kabab items were also awesome esp the veal liver & salmon shikh! But ya, we took baklava as dessert & they were not much good like the Turkish one. Anyway, it was our first time here but def won’t be the last.
Good lord. The food here is so fresh and delicious. The apps are mostly vegetarian but the main course is perfectly prepared meats. This is a byob so bring so great wine. I will return here. I feel like the northeast Philly area is becoming a mecha of international eating. Ps get the honey cake... get all of the desserts.
Love this restaurant ! Especially for valentine’s day. Picturesque- table setting with balloons, roses and lights making a romantic escape. Great outdoor enclosed setting. Their shish kabobs are charcoal grilled and their homemade bread is amazing !! Great service and with a cultural taste of Uzbek!!
On a beautiful summer evening, we were looking for a new spot with outdoor seating to try, stumbled upon Uzbekistan Restaurant on a "best of" list, and headed toward the northeast for dinner. So glad we did: greatly enjoyed sitting on the covered patio* and trying as many dishes as we could. A number of families were dining and you could tell there were a number of regulars enjoying large pitchers of Compot with BYO mix-ins. Some highlights: the pickled green tomatoes on the Pickled Vegetables platter were out of this world! Also memorable, the Potato Vareniki (small potato dumplings similar to pierogies), the Lamb Kebab, the Pilaf Uzbekistan, and the Honey Cake. Though it was a bit of a trip from Center City, there was ample parking in the parking lot around back, and the food was worth the journey. *Open windows let in both breeze as well as a fair amount of traffic noise from Bustleton Avenue.
Delicious food! I’m Russian and was craving some borscht and beef kebabs because there’s no restaurant serving similar food in the state I live in (Raleigh, NC). OMG, so tasty and authentic! Loved the loose leaf green tea there as well - the best green tea I’ve tasted. The carrot salad was very flavourful and yummy. The restaurant is very cosy and clean. The servers and owner are very friendly. I love that is stays open late. Will definitely be back when I’m in the area.
This restaurant is saved in my phone as "lyubimaya" and rightly so! I drive 1.5 hours each way simply to get take-out. I've been going here since 2011 and have never had a bad experience. I'm not Eastern European but I speak Russian and I actually appreciate the fact that the staff does not speak to me in English when I'm addressing them in Russian. The Ukrainian borscht with tandoori bread is my favorite and I simply cannot leave without taking chebureki with me. Every time I leave, I cannot wait to come back.
