Beautiful upscale Black-owned restaurant. The food was amazing! The service was great! The atmosphere was beautiful. we ordered the shrimp and grits, gumbo, and fried green tomatoes and everything was delicious! I even got a non-alcoholic drink and it was really good too! You just have to make sure you get a reservation because they get booked up!

Virtue is worth it. From the time we walked into the restaurant until we walked out the door, we loved everything about this place. The vibe, the staff, and even the guests made for a great dining experience. Everything we had felt like love was put in it. Is good southern food in Chicago? Yeap, it’s a thing. We had Green Tomatoes, Catfish, Shirt Ribs, Mac & Cheese,Collards, and Cornbread with honey butter. All “slack your mama good.” We really wanted to try one of the delectable-looking sweet rations, but there was no room to put it in. We will just have to go back again. Two thumbs up for sure

My husband and I celebrated Valentines Day at this upscale Black-owned restaurant. The food & drinks were excellent! The service was great! The atmosphere was beautiful. We've ordered shrimp and grits, raised ribs, mac and cheese, and fried green tomatoes. The food was absolutely delicious! Virtue was worth it. Jose (Mansger) knows how to make his guests feel welcome and time well spent. Our reservations were pushed back 20 min (due to the high demand on Valentines Day). I truly appreciate Jose providing champagne as a small gesture for the wait. Very nice touch!!! Also, I want to share my experience with our waiter, Anthony!! He's extremely informative and funny throughout our entire visit. When I say, I love my BLACK people! Thank you, Anthony, for the superb service!!

Went on a Sunday afternoon and the place was booked up the entire day, but luckily it was only about a 10min wait for seats at the bar. After tasting the food, I understand completely as to why they are booked and busy. The food was absolutely delicious and seasoned to perfection as well as healthy portion sizes. The star of the show was the Strawberry Bread Pudding. I would come back to this restaurant specifically for that as I will make it a point to eat here the next times I come to Chicago.

Yum! Yum! This small an intimate restaurant is a must experience. No need to put on your Sunday best but the casual and cozy environment is worth it. The short ribs melt in your mouth. That sauce on them is amazing! We also had fried green tomatoes, biscuits, shrimp and grits and drinks. Nothing disappointed. We will be back here!

Truly an experience and a pleasure to dine! Everything I put into my mouth was absolutely delicious and creatively crafted. I went with a few friends and we wanted to try everything so we ordered the friend green tomatoes, chicken liver mouse toast, blackened catfish, short ribs, Mac and cheese, greens, cornbread, and carrot cake! We also had cocktails which were delicious as well. The reservations were so hard to get but the wait was certainly worth it. This is such a special place, with special food, and special vibes. Everyone of us was impressed and more than satisfied with every dish. Not to mention the service is exceptional and the old school tones in the back just added that extra touch of pure black excellence. Virtue sets itself apart. Definitely my new favorite restaurant! Will be returning soon.

Reservation made for a Friday night. Quickly seated. Very friendly wait staff. The green tomato and gumbo starters were excellent. Entrees tasty. Cornbread is a must do. Wanted dessert but we were too stuffed. Hope to get back to try the desserts. The only knock is it's a bit loud but food and staff are excellent.

I was happy to learn of those upscale southern soul food restaurant in Hyde Park. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the staff was very knowledgeable of the food and menus. We started with Fried Green Tomatoes. I wasn't impressed as they were to thickly cut and lacked salt. It was recommended by our waiter that my sister and I try the the short ribs. I'm glad we did. They were tender and well seasoned and the gravy was superb. We also added the cornbread, Mac and cheese as a side and banana pudding and red velvet cake for dessert. All of our choices did not disappoint us. Delish! I give 4 stars for having to pay a non refundable 20.00+tax for a reservation for 2 (was applied to the bill) and paying a 3.5% surcharge to assist with employee insurance. Because of these extra fees unfortunately I may not return.
