Irish-themed pub with live music. Casual, cozy pub known for Irish-American eats, table beer taps & weekend live music.
We tried this place while in town for a early dinner and a few drinks. We were greeted by Julian the bartender who was very friendly and helpful so we sat at the bar. They had live music and the performer was very good. We ordered the Irish Sausage Sandwich with Potato and Leek Soup, both were very delicious. Julian knew how to pour a Guinness Ale. We wound up meeting new friends and sharing stories with each other like a true Irish Pub. Everyone who worked there was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant and restrooms were very clean. We will return to this place every time we are in the area and we told some friends of ours who also went.
Great building, fantastic service, excellent bar drinks, ok food. The spinach dip was amazing and the Reuben sandwich was top notch. The fish was decent but the chips were half cooked. The fries with the Reuben were the same.. needed about 6 more minutes in the fryer. We'd go back, but would get the slaw!
We started with 2 margaritas & the spinach & 3 cheese dip. The dip was awesome but the chips where a bit stale. The margaritas made up for that. We had the sheperds pie and added cheese on top at Christine's suggestion (well worth the $2) we were able to eat outside because we had our pup with us and the atmosphere was awesome. Highly recommend this place.
A good joint for Irish Food… the chicken pot pie is a must try… the shrimp was not up to the mark though as per the cost, the Irish Mule cud have been better as well… the ambience is a sure hit! The server was great as well… so it’s a mixed feedback overall !
Great spot for some good old comfort food and a place to eat along the River. Many items are just $4 which makes it reasonably priced. Their spiked coffees are excellent too and worth to try.
Visited SA in May and stopped in for a bite. The bartender was super nice and knowledgeable, he told us about a free laser light show at a cathedral that we would not have known about any other way. I had the Smoked Salmon appetizer and it was belly pleasing amazing! The building is very unique and has a great atmosphere.
1st, a pub, Irish or not, wouldn’t be my 1st choice for dinner. But my wife likes Irish-style food. So the food was really excellent - Guinness Stew for my wife and Shepherds Pie with Cheese for myself. However, I just don’t enjoy the noisy environment and the unclean feeling I get when touching the tables and chairs. They do play some decent modern music and have live entertainment nightly, which I’m not really in to. Our server was also great - he gave us his complete attention - he was there before we even realized we needed a refill on drinks. Most people that like bar/pub type of venue will really love Waxy’s.
This place was good and cute. It has a nice vibe and wasn't busy on a Monday night. The service was good and the food was tasty. I liked the salmon plate and the mashed potatoes were on point.
