Urban American brasserie in a hotel. Marriott Marquis American brasserie & bar serving breakfast, lunch & dinner in stylish surroundings.
Maybe better for dinner. The menu is very limited during lunch and I walked a good distance after seeing pictures of the food. I was excited about a few of the entrees, but the entrees are only available after 5pm. Three of us picked the Wagyu burgers and asked for them to be cooked medium. All burgers were very charred and cooked past well done.
Eaters beware of how they do their billing of eating here. We just ate here and the lunch menu is limited. Firat issue is they don't advise you that all your meals will be on one check. The waitress then stated they couldn't separate the checks despite our party needing separate checks. Waitress advised it could only be separated in to 2 bills and that it would take 40 minutes to separate the bills. We asked for the manager who then said they could only separate the bill into 3 separate bills. They were just going to put whatever together on the bills. We explained we knew who was going on each of the 3 bills then they said they can't itemized the bills. There is a lack of understanding with the staff. We won't eat here again during our stay. Burger was good and don't do the wings they were not seasoned. The soup and grill cheese was good the others stated. Beware of this joint but you are kind of stuck when staying here at the hotel with food choices.
Limited menu. Ate late at night so perhaps the food is better during the day but we had a horrible meal. Burgers had a cheese like spread, not actual cheese. The Turkey dish (which looked like chicken) was dry, hard, and over cooked. Rice was cold and under cooked. Our meals were not worthy of a picture, nor consumption. Better off going to Fat Pour across the street.
Friday night during a convention (August 2022) and we were seated right away, and that should have been an an indication. Dinner prices were high for wrong orders that took too long, small portions, and under seasoned. To the staff’s credit they tried to make it right but it still turned me off against all future visits.
The food was good, but my group was not informed that they would not split the bill more than divided in half. A heads up when we ordered would have been nice. The manager wasno help.
We were staying at the Marriott Marquis in Chicago for the SHRM 2018 conference. We arrived late Friday and wanted an easy meal, so we went for the on-location restaurant. I normally don't have high expectations for hotel restaurants, and for the most part, these expectations were accurate. We ate here for both dinner and breakfast, and I'd definitely recommend dinner between those two experiences. You can find great breakfasts for cheaper, elsewhere. It started off with drinks and appetizers. The waitress proudly stated that this was a full bar and that "whatever [we'd] want, [they'd] have it" for us. I asked for a white Russian and my husband asked for tequila, straight up. They didn't have cream, or any of the brands he requested for tequila, lol. Not a big deal to us, but we just found it funny. I ended up getting their Copacobana cocktail and my husband some other tequila. The cocktail was pretty, but I just wasn't a fan. It was strangely bitter. For our appetizer, we chose the Artisan Rolls with bacon butter & honey butter (not pictured). These were underwhelming and not worth the price. The butter was pretty much frozen solid and hard to spread. The bread was twisted in an artistic fashion, but that was about it. The meals were actually pleasantly surprising. My husband ordered the Braised Pork Shank (pancetta, stewed white beans, grilled chicory, pepita gremolata). He found it to be pretty good, and a good serving size. He was pretty full by the end of it. However, we both really enjoyed my dish - Braised Rabbit Pappardelle Pasta (koval bourbon cream, mushrooms, parmigiano reggianno). This was just wonderful! It is a heavy dish with the cream sauce, but the rabbit was lovely, soft, and succulent, and it really hit the spot. I definitely recommend ordering this dish if you're okay with the idea of eating rabbit. ~~~ Breakfast. We later returned to try their breakfast. Their costs were ridiculously high. They had a buffet option, but we took a peek in the room and unless you really went to town, you were not going to eat your money's worth. We ended up going with the actual menu items, as they were cheaper than the buffet. I ordered classic pancakes. My husband ordered the Wisconsin Cheddar Broken Yolk Sandwich (noble star ranch bacon, avocado, tomato, aioli, sourdough, side of fruit). Both were good, but these two dishes + 2 regular coffees costs us $47.95. That much for breakfast is just absurd. In all honesty, I'd say this is an okay experience (3 stars), with an exception of the rabbit parpadelle (a solid 4 by itself). It's not memorable, and you're in Chicago! Be adventurous and take an uber/lyft to downtown - there are so many other amazing restaurants. It's a shame we wasted two meals here for convenience.
We had a party of 7, waitess brought our check as one. When we told her how we were paying, she said we had no choice; they were not able to do separate cks. If this was the case, we should have been told up front. Per Mgr, they could only break it into three parts. What a hot mess people! Never again!
A great bar meal. I actually ate here twice during a trade show at McCormick because it was so convenient. Food was good, nothing too special and they have good cocktail options. Would definitely recommend as a meeting spot as you can easily make reservations.
