14 YEARS A CHRISTIAN

We went back to our room that day and cried. That drama, played right before our eyes spoke to our very soul. The drama x-rayed the end of two lives. One person died and went to heaven while the other died and went to hell. While we knew heaven and hell were real, the drama made these eternal realities even more real to us.

We began to question myself. If we died on that day, where was we to go to? We knew the answer and it wasn’t heaven. We knew we wasn’t going to be with Jesus if we lost our breath.

But what made us cry the most was our neighbors. You see, two of our neighbors were a part of the campus fellowship that acted the drama before us. And we were quite cordial. Why hadn’t they told us about their relationship with Jesus? We don’t know if it was that time of the month or what but for some reason, this made us cry hard.

So the next time we went to the campus fellowship, we laid our life all down before God. We were resolute to begin a life of walking with God. We had always been open to the idea of God but we just hadn’t committed our life yet to Him. So on this day, we fully decided, fully committed and fully surrendered our all to Jesus.

When a call was made for those who wanted to offer their lives to Jesus. We walked out to the front of the gathering. And we were led to say a prayer surrendering it all to Him.

At that moment, we knew God was with us. We just knew He was right there, changing our life, making us new. As we prayed to Him, we were assured of our new life in Christ.

That was fourteen years ago.

And now, we look back and we say, wow! 14 years a Christian.

14 years of letting the Bible be our final authority. 14 years of rising, falling, rising again. Fourteen years of trying not to yield to temptation; sometimes yielding, sometimes conquering. 14 years of sharing our faith with others. 14 years of becoming the woman God wants us to be.

14 years of immense learning, growth, and maturity. 14 years of joy, pure joy that only God can give: waddling off the sadness into God-given joy. 14 years of learning to cast all our worries to the Lord for He cares for us. 14 years!

14 years of being a new person. Because Christ in us, made us new. 14 years of our life taking a completely different path that it should have taken if we haven’t met Christ.

We are thankful for the 14 years we have known Christ. Our hope is to live forever with Him. With all the craziness happening in the world, Jesus is our anchor, Wih all the things that could steal away our peace, we still manage to find the peace that surpasses every human wisdom and understanding. It’s all in Him.

Do you have a salvation story? What’s the story of your walk with God? Please share.
