6 Things I’m Planning to Do This Summer

Summer has arrived — happy new month! I’m more excited about this season than ever. During my first summer here I struggled with morning sickness while expecting baby number three; the heat made everything worse and I avoided going out. Back then I was still settling into my surroundings. Now I feel more at home — no longer JJC (Johnny Just Come) but JHBH (Johnny Has Been Here) — and I’m determined to enjoy the season to the fullest.

I’ve been planning how to make the coming months fun and restorative. My wish list leans heavily toward style and beauty, with a few items aimed at pampering Mama because the body needs rest. Here are the things I’m excited about this summer.

1. Shoes oh shoes!

I can’t even remember the last time I treated myself to new shoes. Most of my budget has gone into growing this blog, but it’s time to show my feet some love.

I’m dreaming of suede gladiator flat sandals. They would pair perfectly with shorter dresses and summer outfits that need a comfortable, stylish finish.

Strappy heels are also on my list — they just make me smile at the thought of wearing them out.

I’d love a pair of classic canvas All Stars too. I first spotted a similar style in a fashion post by one of my favorite bloggers, and they’ve been calling my name ever since.

There’s a colorful sandal option that gives me life — I can already picture pink-polished toes tucked into them. Bright, cheerful sandals are irresistible for summer.

2. A summer hat

I want a hat that shields me from the sun while looking stylish. A multipurpose beach hat would be perfect for casual outings or seaside days — something a little different from the usual straw hats.

I also love another option that comes in a lovely pink shade. Both are cute, but the pink one has my heart. Which would you choose?

3. A women’s devotional Bible

I’ve been wishing for a pink study Bible tailored for women. A devotional Bible with daily readings — 366 devotions covering themes like grace, love, peace and hope — feels like the perfect companion for quieter, reflective moments this season.

4. Better hair

My natural hair has been giving me grief — dandruff, tangles and frizz. I’m ready for a change that’s manageable and protective; box braids are on my mind as a low-stress summer style that will let my hair rest and grow without daily battles.

5. Me time

More than anything, I want pockets of uninterrupted “me time” — moments to sit, breathe and do nothing. Resting intentionally is a top priority this season.

6. A new kitchen

My dream kitchen has specific features:

  • White cupboards
  • Granite countertops
  • Stainless-steel appliances
  • A long island
  • A spacious layout
I’ve been praying about this space. A kitchen like this would be the permanent home for my cooking projects and a polished backdrop for shooting YouTube videos. I picture cooking, filming, and sharing food with joy in a bright, functional space.
This list doesn’t cover everything I dream about, but it’s a start. I believe these dreams are valid and worth pursuing.
Now it’s your turn: what are you hoping for in this season of your life? Share your dreams in the comments — dreaming costs nothing and it’s a beautiful place to begin.
