We Got the Surprise of Our Lives — Here’s What Happened

Please excuse me—let me nap a little and I’ll tell you the story.

I wrote that short note last night as I drifted off while trying to settle my baby. I always end up nodding off before she does. Big sigh. It was Mr N opening the door this morning that woke me. But the ministry must go on. Have you liked my Facebook page yet? Please click and help move my ministry to its permanent site.

Here’s what happened: last week my family and I got one of the biggest surprises of our lives. The estate office called to say we had a package. Mr N went and came back with two large boxes of gifts, all addressed to us, sent by someone unknown. See the boxes here:

I was speechless. There was no return address or any way to thank the sender. If you are the person who blessed us and you’re reading this, my family and I say thank you. My girls were thrilled to find their names on the presents and to open them. You gave us a joyful evening.

After unpacking, these are some of the items we found:

These were specifically addressed to me (the white crock pot in the back and the green cup are not included). Someone sent a lovely new pot to help my cooking ministry—I’m so grateful!

My little one received a new doll:

Here is how the gifts were addressed—there was no sender information.

We also found gift cards for food, fuel and groceries worth about $95. I could share more photos, but I have work waiting. Thank you again, anonymous giver, for showering us with such generosity. My family and I prayed for you. May God richly bless you.

Meanwhile, my daughter had a Christmas party at school, so I put together a little gift for her teacher.

Last week brought many gifts. My Indian friend brought thoughtful presents for each of us—she is so kind. Thank you, Jeena!
I also received many items from a local organization that gives free Christmas gifts to children. I’ve hidden the toys so my girls can open them on Christmas morning (shh—don’t tell).
All in all, it was a wonderful week. God has been teaching me to trust Him, especially when I feel overwhelmed by everything I want to accomplish. That’s what’s up with me—what’s up with you?
Here’s What’s Up will return next Monday. Until then, stay sweet and remember that Jesus is the reason for the season. I love you.
