I should start by admitting I’m completely hooked on tennis. I played again yesterday — my second time in three weeks. What kind of “addiction” is that? It’s the kind that keeps me energized and smiling.
I attended my niece’s barbecue where I brought the gateau shown above. These little cake balls were a hit with guests from Cameroon, Sierra Leone, Liberia and beyond — they really do have universal appeal. If you enjoyed the photos, you can find the recipe on my site.
I also made Puff Puff, but an indulgent “ajebutter” version: instead of proofing the yeast in water I used whole milk. The result was thicker than the usual Puff Puff and absolutely delicious.

For the savory offering, I prepared fish pie. Rather than shaping the dough into the typical half-moons, I rolled it flat and cut it into rectangles and squares for a change of pace. For the filling I used tilapia fillets for the first time instead of my usual sardines or mackerel — a tasty experiment that worked really well.
Later in the week we hosted family friends from Oklahoma and had a few other visitors, which meant more cooking — and more enjoyment. Expect more recipes, tips and kitchen musings coming soon. I’ll be cooking and sharing more over the next few days, so check back for updates.
Love ya!
