How to make Easy Chocolate Covered Strawberries with just two ingredients in 30 minutes. A simple, elegant treat for Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, or any time you want something sweet.

Every year as Valentine’s Day approaches my girls and I make Easy Chocolate Covered Strawberries. It’s a quick, low-stress recipe we can finish together in about half an hour.
We keep it simple: melt the chocolate, dip the strawberries, let them set, and enjoy. Any melting chocolate you have on hand works—dark, semi-sweet, or white.
Recently my nine-year-old pointed out there wasn’t a chocolate-covered strawberries recipe on the blog, so here’s our straightforward method.

Mr. N picked up some gorgeous large, red, juicy strawberries the other day—perfect for dipping. When the fruit looks that good, it’s a sign to make one of our favorite treats.

Why You’ll Love Chocolate Dipped Strawberries
- They look fancy but are incredibly easy to make—no special equipment or skills required.
- They’re fast. In under 15 minutes of active work you can dip a sizable batch, making them ideal for last-minute gatherings.
- Perfect for special occasions such as Valentine’s Day or Mother’s Day, or simply as a fresh, sweet snack.
- They combine indulgent chocolate with fresh fruit for a delightful contrast of flavors and textures.

Ingredients For Easy Chocolate Covered Strawberries
Fresh strawberries: Choose the reddest, plumpest berries you can find—big, juicy strawberries give the best flavor and presentation.
Melting chocolate: Any melting chocolate works. I used Ghirardelli dark chocolate flavored melting wafers because they melt smoothly and give a glossy finish. Baker’s semi-sweet baking bars or candy melts are fine alternatives. Dark, semi-sweet, or white chocolate will all work depending on your preference.

How To Make Chocolate Covered Strawberries—Easy
Follow these five easy steps:
Step 1: Rinse strawberries and dry them thoroughly with paper towels or let them air dry on paper towels. Dry berries allow chocolate to adhere properly.
Step 2: Melt the chocolate using a double boiler or the microwave.

Double boiler method: Fill a small pot with about 2 inches of water and bring to a simmer (don’t boil). Place chopped chocolate or melting wafers in a heatproof bowl set over the pot and stir until smooth.
Microwave method: Heat the chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring between each interval, until melted and smooth. Stop heating as soon as the chocolate is melted to avoid burning.

Step 3: Hold each strawberry by the leaves and dip it into the melted chocolate, turning as needed to coat. You may need to dip a couple of times for full coverage.

Step 4: Place dipped strawberries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone mat to set.

Step 5: Let the chocolate set at room temperature until firm, or speed it up by chilling the tray in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes.
Optional: Melt white chocolate and drizzle over the set dark chocolate for a decorative finish. Use a spoon or a butter knife to create thin drizzles.

Tips For The Best Chocolate-Covered Strawberries
- Wash strawberries in a vinegar-and-water solution (about 8 cups water to 1/2 cup vinegar) to remove residue, then rinse and drain.
- Dry strawberries thoroughly before dipping—any moisture prevents the chocolate from sticking.
- Avoid getting water into the chocolate while melting; water will cause chocolate to seize.
- Add toppings like chopped nuts, toasted coconut, or sprinkles immediately after dipping while the chocolate is still wet so they stick.
- Drizzle a second color of chocolate only after the first coating has set.
- Chocolate-covered strawberries are best the same day they’re made; refrigerate if storing for a short time, but expect them to soften after longer storage.

Variations
- Roll freshly dipped strawberries in crushed nuts like pistachios, almonds, or peanuts.
- Coat in toasted coconut flakes for a tropical twist.
- Add colorful sprinkles for a festive look.
- Dip in white chocolate or colored candy melts for different presentations.
- Combine dipped strawberries into a bouquet arrangement for a special gift.
What Kind of Chocolate Should I Use?

Any melting chocolate will work, but results vary:
- Chocolate chips melt thicker and can leave a heavier, less smooth coating.
- Melting wafers and candy melts tend to produce a smoother, lighter finish; you may need to double-dip so the bottoms are fully covered.
