My people, I hope you are thriving and working hard to make this November memorable. Last week was Halloween. On Saturday evening I saw my neighbours’ children in a variety of costumes: a little girl dressed as a witch, another as an ancient princess, and a boy in a Spiderman outfit.
My own children chose not to join. They felt some pressure, but I explained that Halloween is not something we celebrate. I don’t understand celebrating witches, ghosts, and graveyards. To me, it is not harmless fun; it can be a subtle way to introduce harmful ideas. I believe it presents vice as if it were virtue. We aren’t following the crowd; we are guided by our convictions and the Word. When people begin to treat bloodshed or fear as entertainment, that becomes troubling. I wonder how this trend became so widespread. It feels like a distraction from more important things.
Mr. N and I walked around the neighbourhood and took photos of some Halloween decorations. Many homeowners were proud of their “spooktacular” displays and were happy to have their pictures taken. See the photos below:

| I noticed many displays used cobwebs. There is something about cobwebs that evokes a spooky, unsettling mood. |

| This was the most elaborate display I saw. It was hard to capture everything in a single photo. |
We also photographed the beautiful fall foliage. The leaves have shifted from green to shades of red and orange — a lovely reminder of the changing seasons. Creation testifies to God’s creativity and power.

At church this week we reflected on the value of covenant friendships, like the faithful bond between David and Jonathan. How was your week? Love you!
