Easter Sunday was a joyful day for me. I wore an African outfit (pictured above) since the weather has warmed up, but the highlight wasn’t the outfit. After church we went to an Italian restaurant, Olive Garden, where I was excited to sample the menu — I’ve long admired Italian cooking from watching chef Laura Vitale, and I was keen to see how the dishes compared.
We started with breadsticks and salad.
The breadsticks practically begged to come home with me. I couldn’t resist them — they were warm and inviting.
I enjoyed the salad dressing — it was light with a pleasant, slightly tangy finish. For the first time I tried croutons with my salad; those little crunchy cubes added a delightful texture.
Here’s a faint snapshot of baby girl and me at the restaurant. The woman on the left is my lovely sister-in-law, Nata — hope you don’t mind your picture here.
Choosing a drink was confusing because there were so many options, so I picked the first item on the list: Lavazza Espresso. I imagined a large, frothy, chocolatey cup, but it arrived as a tiny cup of strong, bitter coffee. At first I thought it tasted medicinal, but I warmed to it with each sip. Part of that affection was practical — I didn’t want it to go to waste — and part was genuine appreciation for its bold flavor. Lesson learned.
I ordered the Lasagna Classico — pictured on the plate below — and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was rich with cheese and the tomato sauce was smooth, not overly acidic. Mr. N ordered fried shrimp, which looked delicious as well.
Girl number 2 chose spaghetti with tomato sauce and grilled chicken.
Girl number 1 had pasta with tomato sauce and shrimp, with grapes on the side.
It was a lovely outing and a pleasant break from my usual routine in the kitchen.
Later in the week, Mr. N found baby girl and me asleep on the couch after a restless night. I’d taken her to the living room to play and dozed off. He snapped a picture of us.
I must look funny when I sleep, but the moment was sweet and real.
At church we reflected on how Jesus is our ultimate source of fulfillment. People often search for satisfaction in many places, yet there is a space in the heart that only Jesus can fill. I appreciate everything that Easter represents — hope, renewal, and restoration.
My Precious People, I haven’t posted a cooking video recently because I’m focusing on improving the quality of my upcoming videos. Stay tuned for more engaging content that will show you how to prepare delicious meals.
