This photo was taken behind my house with my DSLR—I’m still learning how to use it—but I can’t stop looking at it. It’s a beautiful reminder of nature’s simple wonders. I can’t believe it’s August already. Some people jokingly expand the month’s name to A.U.G.U.S.T. — Ask Until God Unveils Something Tangible — while others view the eighth month as a symbol of new beginnings. Whatever the meaning, one thing remains true: God has been faithful.
Faithful are you, Lord!
Forgive my enthusiasm—July was a good month for me: for blogging, for food, and for the small, ordinary joys of life.
One of the things I love about blogging is the freedom it gives me. I can sit in some odd corner of my home, wear a quirky top (like the one I’m in now), type away, and have friends and strangers read what I write. It’s a little bit magical.
I started July by sharing some practical tips on dealing with stress.

That post helped set the tone for the month—especially the part about prayer. I was surprised by how much I accomplished in July, and I’m grateful to God for it.
Not long after, I wrote about why church leaders shouldn’t insist on specific titles. That entry resonated with many readers who shared their own experiences with such leaders.
One evening, after putting my girls to bed, I reflected on the chaos and humor of motherhood and wrote a lighthearted piece about 10 crazy things every mother has done. It was comforting to see I’m not the only one who behaves a little nutty sometimes—it felt so good!

I shared a recipe for Njama Njama with Egusi, and to my surprise someone who didn’t know I blogged called me asking for a favor because of that post. You never know who’s reading—it’s exciting and a little bit unnerving.
My most-read post in July was “5 Plantain Recipes You Must Make.” It drew a lot of visitors, though it didn’t generate many comments—people seemed to stop by, grab the recipes, and go.
I also featured one of my favorite people, Arrey Echi, whose testimony as a sickle cell warrior inspired many readers.
One morning I decided to share the story of how I met Mr. N, which sparked a lively conversation and 32 comments. I also posted a video recipe for a flavorful dish called Ndole.

Last Friday I put together a list of seven snack recipes perfect for the weekend. Readers sent photos and messages thanking me after trying the recipes. It feels wonderful to nudge people into the kitchen and inspire them to cook.
July also brought some media features: I shared a chocolate popsicles recipe on Bella Naija, a coconut jollof rice recipe on Stella Dimoko Korkus’ blog, and spoke about blogging on TY Pearls. A small mix-up listed me as Nigerian; I’ve asked for a correction to note that I am Cameroonian.
I updated my “About Me” page and added a “Work with Me” page to make it easier for brands and readers to reach out.
There were many other moments in July worth revisiting—if you’re curious, you can explore the July archive on the blog.
My healthy eating challenge
This month I’m focusing on clean eating and sharing wholesome, delicious recipes. Giving your body a break from certain foods can be refreshing. Here are the guidelines I’m following:
- Low sodium
- Smaller portions
- Whole grains
- Plenty of water
- Lots of fruits and vegetables
- And yes—healthy cold treats instead of ice cream
I’ve skipped ordinary ice cream for now, but I’ll be creating healthy frozen treats that prove nutritious food can be just as satisfying.
Sitting here in my odd blouse, I’m thinking about you—how supportive and encouraging you are. Thank you for reading and for being part of this journey.
May this August bring you love, laughter, and abundant blessings. May you enjoy peace that surpasses understanding and a full, joyful heart.
Happy new month!
