What’s Happening: Birthday Girl Celebration Ideas

Friends, last night my sink was overflowing with dirty dishes. I was exhausted and felt unwell, and the thought of waking up to a messy kitchen made me dread the morning. I had been busy all day and my body had reached its limit. I finally washed the dishes around 5:30 a.m., and it was effortless—about half the time it normally takes. Why share this little story? To remind you there is real power in the morning. Tasks feel easier then. Prayer can feel more focused and powerful. Creativity often flows more freely. Use your mornings well; they set the tone for the day.

My little one turned four last week!

Coincidentally, I took her for early childhood screening on her birthday. It’s a 30-minute assessment where a children’s expert evaluates a child’s knowledge across several areas and checks physical development. Since I homeschool, my daughter has never been in a classroom, so I was both curious and nervous to see how she would do. This felt like the moment of truth—would homeschooling be reflected in her results?

She did wonderfully. She answered every question correctly, and exceeded expectations. The assessor told me, “Whatever you are doing, keep doing it.” I felt so grateful and blessed—thank you, Jesus!

To celebrate, I took her shopping and let her choose ten things she really liked. She picked toys, coloring books, and other little treasures that have taken over a corner of my kitchen.

Over the weekend I also braided her hair—yarn braids this time. I usually secure the ends with small colorful rubber bands, but they sometimes came loose. This time Mr N lightly sealed the edges so they’d look neater and last longer. I love that man.

Then a little miracle happened: I managed to braid my toddler’s hair. I can’t count the times I’ve chased her to get her hair done—she’s carried her nappy hair for a while. Someone once innocently asked if I was grooming her into dreadlocks. Ha.

Getting a picture of her wasn’t easy

On Saturday I uploaded episode 12 of Precious Kitchen on YouTube, where I cook a spicy Cameroonian black stew called Mbongo Tchobi. My next blog post will include the full recipe. I had planned to publish it Saturday, but life got in the way—sound familiar?

I’ll make sure the written recipe is published as soon as the video is live on YouTube—no more delays.

At church we started a new series called “Manger Things.” We reflected on how extraordinary the events surrounding the manger truly were.

How could a virgin conceive?

How could the King of kings be born in a manger of all places?

How did an angel appear and speak to Mary?

These are supernatural events that defy ordinary explanation. They remind us that God operates beyond our understanding and that His ways don’t always follow human logic. Miracles are not only part of the past—God still performs wonders today as He did in the days of Jesus. If you are in need of a miracle, believe. He is the God of the impossible.

“For with God nothing will be impossible.” Luke 1:37

What do you need a miracle for? Feel free to share below and I will pray with you.

Have an awesome week and a fulfilling December!
